I am a strong Bush supporter. I agreed with the war in Iraq when we
started, as did most Americans at the time. However, I believe nobody
anticipated that we'd still be fighting it years later with no end in
sight. Had the war lasted 3 weeks and all was well in Iraq right now
as was planned, everybody would be calling Bush a hero. As it turns
out, he took a gamble and what looked like a sure-thing, and he lost.
But now we're stuck with the situation and Bush gets all the blame.
(even though the majority of the US should be to blame because he
wouldn't have started the war in the first place with the kind of
support he has now)
Also keep in mind, Bush is in a really sticky situation. Over half the
US and the world is calling for a pull-out of troops. If he doesn't
do it, he gets flamed. If he DOES do it, and Iraq falls into civil
war, he'll get blamed for that too. So, if you were in his situation
(regardless of what you would have done up until now) what would you do?
Call for a conference on Iraq involving Iraq's major factions, Iraq's
neighbors, the U.S., Europe, and Russia to discuss how to stabilize Iraq so
that we can get out of there. Propose that Iraq offer some of its oil
revenues to its neighbors in return for those neighbors helping to suppress
the insurgency and the sectarian militias. Propose oil pipelines from Iraq
to Israel passing through Syria and Jordan, thus giving Syria and Jordan an
incentive to make peace with Israel!

To which we can say "We will be happy to get out, as soon as the sectarian
violence and the insurgency stop!". This would certainly give them reason to
make peace!

You so funny!
Last I read today I think 19 US soldiers are dead this month in Iraq. That's
19 dead in four days of October.
God Bless America.

alive than free, I guess. Poor dumb bastards."

Have we been there in Iraq longer than we were in WWII at that point?
Is Osama harder to kill that Hitler?
When will we know the War on Terror is over?
Will an abstract noun sign the documents of surrender?
Did Godwin ever take any of this into account?

Divide Iraq into 3 countries--SunniIraq, KurdishIraq, and ShiaIraq.
Problem solved.
Can we move on now??
