Microsoft to hire, hike R&D
Gates tells analysts tech outlook is bright; firm to add 5,000 jobs,
about $900M to R&D.
July 25, 2002: 12:56 PM EDT
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Microsoft Corp. plans to increase research
and
development spending by about $900 million, or 20 percent, in the fiscal
year that began this month, and also plans to increase its job base by
5,000
employees, Chairman Bill Gates told financial analysts Thursday.
Gates said the company believes the long-term outlook for the
technology industry is bright, and that investments the company is making
in
the coming year should help fuel future growth.

More good news! But of course that means BAD news for the Democrats, who
had hoped to use "It's the economy, Stupid!" for their election bid.
Instead, that election scheme of theirs is now in tatters.

Clinton increased the federal debt EVERY year he was in office, so clearly
HE was able to climb out of HIS deep financial cave. He got reelected.
Just like Bush will.
Now, now, now...let's not commit the cardinal error of confusing the
national debt with the budget deficit. But you're spreading lies on
both counts.
Clinton paid down the national debt for three years in a row -
1997-2000, by $355 billion. The 2000 payment was $216 Billion, the
largest in US history. This didn't keep the debt from rising due to
interest accumulations and inflation, but significantly dropped the
increase rate. Under Bush, the rate is increasing rapidly, and it's
predicted the $6.4 Trillion legal ceiling will be hit next February.
The 400 billion (growing daily) is the budget deficit. That's the hole
you have to climb out of to put the US economy back on course. The
chances of Bush doing this in a year is nill. The predictited deficit
for next year is 480 billion, and Bush seems unable to controll his
reducing revenues and increasing spending.

Oh, I have no doubt you Clinton Apologists have all sorts of "reasons" you

Funny how those whackjob Democrats who attack President Bush for "increasing
the federal debt" NEVER say it's "rising due to interest accumulations and
inflation". Oh no, those whackjob Democrats reserve THOSE excuses for
Clinton alone.

But Bill Clinton was spending money that he had and managed to finish
up with nice surpluses. Bush is spending money he doesn't have -
bigtime. Sounds like he's doing the same thing you claim Democrats do,
except that Bush is doing it extravagantly and with no forethought
whatsover for the future.
