Don, just out of curiosity, why would you be threatened with deportation in Mexico?
You're so up on everything regarding our immigration problems. Please tell us about

Don, just out of curiosity, why would you be threatened with deportation in Mexico?

First, I was an "undocumented Northeramerican" in Mexico.
Second, Mexico is a two-class system which means everyone has to work
for a padron. Even the padrons have their padrons at least to the very
top of the extortion racket that is Mexico.
Third, I was very valuable. My work made many millions of dollars for
Mexico and those who supposedly employed me.
I was thus, among the padrons and wannabe padrons, in very high
demand. Not competing with eachother however, one or another of them
would attempt to coerce me into working for them instead of whomever I
supposedly was.
They thought that the threat of deportation would force me to either
work for them or simply turn over my work to them, instead of whomever
I was, and, thus, make them rich.
If I refused, they thought that threatening deportation would force me
to submit to their will.
It never did. Several times I'd even be jailed for refusing to work
(as nearly always even free) for one person rather than another.
They never did deport me, unfortunately, as it was impossible to
either get paid or keep any money rarely paid, to just get myself
home.
They didn't because, in the end, I was always too valuable to someone
and even them indirectly.

You're so up on everything regarding our immigration problems. Please tell us about
you.

:-) If I started answering that, you wouldn't get an answer until the
book was published.
I do have a website which I made quite sometime ago while still living
in Mexico.
I have yet to decide whether to publish that site address to the
usenet.

And please don't misunderstand my request and see something sinister in it.

You needn't worry. I don't.

Btw: It is very easy for most any Mexican to have any foreigner
deported from Mexico.
As in everything else, there is no due process.
It is as simple as denouncing the foreigner to Immigration or the
police.
No fabrication even need apply as the Mexican Constitution itself
states mere "inconvenience" is enough.
If a valuable foreigner however, measured one-way-or-the-other in the
amount of U.S. dollars captured for having the foreigner as opposed to
none for not having the foreigner, then paying-off a Mexican
Immigration Officer or Polica Judicial would do, especially if either
were ignorant of who you are or, if they do, having a spasm of
patriotism during a bout of drukedness.
If being deported, either would then simply drive the deportee to the
airport and put the deportee on any airplane heading out of Mexico.
All airlines using Mexican space must take on such passangers.
I could have insulted Mexico to get deported, but then you risk simply
getting killed.
Once I was arrested and beaten for several hours in a Mexican jail for
having "insulted Mexico" by having yelled "Viva Los Yanquis"!
That it was at the very end of the World Series still being televised
between the N.Y. Yankees, who won, and the Atlanta Braves, who lost:
matterd not.
