(1) It's not "his" invasion, because Congress INCLUDING THE DEMOCRATS
approved of the war. As also did the United Nations.

A SHORT HISTORY OF THE U.S. Vs. IRAQ
The following is part conjecture but that part is reasoned by general
human nature and marked as such by parenthesis in most cases.
I'm open to more persuasive information.
All historic data that might shed light is welcome.
IRAQ Circa 1984 ,
Iraq had not been a front burner concern of the U.S.A for some time
but we were suddenly interested in them as a tool in our cold war
back in the mid 1980's
Donald Rumsfeld a civilian working for the administration at the time
was sent to Iraq to do some sales (and some strategic manipulating )
in the effort to undermine the U.S.S.R. He was sent by Reagan and
Bush41.
The aim was to help Iraq against Iran because the outcome could be
important in the cold war.

It was either saddam or Rumsfelds idea that the U.S. sell Iraq some
nice new germs, gasses and poisons for saddam to use against Iran.
(The choice of the KIND of weapons for us to sell saddam was a
strategic one.)
There was probably some persuasion from our side since We were going
To Them and there was a sale of some helicopters and nuclear equipment
( later bombed ) in the deal to sweeten the U.S. side of the
equation.
Saddam bought into the deal and the attack of Iran using these
weapons is history.
Some time passes ,
Rumsfeld has gone back home and saddam has some of the hard to handle
W.M.D. and the helicopters that we sold him left over.
saddam has an enemy, a grudge and some leftover W.M.D.
He Egotisticly and with malice puts those items together and the
unsuspecting Kurds get a nice nerve gas shower.
( saddam hahahahahah, there you go, f ing Kurds )
( saddam : It _ MUST_ be OK with the U.S., after all ,They sold me on
the great way of fighting and sold me the gear. Anyway this is MY
business and My country )

(That's it for the W.M.D.and the helicopters that We sold saddam
all used up, never demonstrably seen or tracked again. )
The Next problem for saddam is that he finds out that his neighbor
Kuwait has stuck a pipe down into the earth at a dishonest angle and
is stealing oil that is coming from Iraq's side of their border.

His neighbor is stealing his goods and that's not right so in deciding
what to do about it he tentatively consults the U.S. and asks what We
think diplomatically.
We (also diplomatically) tell him that we have no opinion ( this is
on the record ) so he is left to take care of it somehow. He rashly
decides to invade and kick their *****, and could reasonably believe
that his 'ally' the U.S. would have no opinion like they said.

Iraq suffers a crushing defeat since it thought it was fighting its
weaker thieving ^%$#@ of a neighbor and ended up fighting the Big
Boys.( Us ) instead.
That part is history.
This is only opinion but I see no contra indication for the following
Saddam has at this point been defeated and has no intention of
fighting the Big Boys ( Us ) again, as well he might, he was
trounced, overwhelmed in the Gulf War and had run home as fast as
he reasonably could.
But being dictator demands that you keep your power or you die so he
mustered whatever bluster it took to molify his slaves, uh, I mean
citizens. and tried to save face , and his ***** of course .
The U.S. was not amused. ( He thinks he is still strong Harumph! )
Saddam would go about trying to get back to normal and just run his
oil rich country and get on with business but the sanctions were
started up and getting back to "normal" was painful and slow.
S l o w l y he began putting the country back together and of course
killing a few "nere-do-well's " and "traitors" on the side
The U.S. had changed leadership and there is discontinuity in the
relationship and the two countries now regard each other with
suspicion and enmity. some couple of years into the Clinton
administration we decided that we were awful upset about those
W.M.D.'s saddam had used (yep the same ones that we told him were
a good idea and that he should buy.)
C.I.A. agents and spy planes were sent into Iraq to look around to
see what the status was after the gulf war in Iraq.
I have no idea what they may have found but nothing public came of
it.other than the idea that some of the satellite and plane pictures
Could Be of things that were a threat ( After all, saddam Must Be
pissed and looking for revenge.)
In 1996 saddam discovered our intelligence guys on the ground and
summarily killed them all ,
( saddam : Harrumph, they send spies, the very Idea!! whack )
the U.S. makes no public outcry but intensifies bombing of scary
sites due to having no eyes on the ground to quell their suspicion
that saddam Must be pissed by now and plotting our demise.
Yikes ! We cant see in Iraq except for what a satellite or a plane can
see.
and That is Definitely not Enough. This guy could be doing
_Anything!_
Meanwhile there is no record that Iraq is doing anything but trying to
get along in the world and keep the population just happy enough
during the tedious and unhelpful sanctions to keep the oil flowing.
( saddam : I'd like to just live my life but the Big Boys are freaking
out controlling all of my air and my commerce and wont let me do
sh..!)
Enter Ahmad Chalabi.
Our guys are concerned that we need better control of the Middle East
because Our World runs on oil and we don't control the supply.
We've Got to control our own supply of oil.
Also our Watchdog and toe hold in that region, Israel has an agenda
that needs our support in return for their service and their leverage.
Also if we could place our military bases that are in Saudi Arabia in
Iraq instead it will help with our other problems in the region.
So We are contacted by or maybe We contact a Mr.Ahmad Chalabi a
native of Iraq who has been exiled because of some crimes involving
banking and various million dollar flim flams but he is willing to use
his support base of individuals who are in Iraq to be our eyes.

out for them.

in. Bush has been thinking.
What the Bush agenda is , I leave up to you.
Any way George W. wants to know what's up with the man he's been
thinking about and makes some inquiries.
We don't know what the answer was except that it contained whatever
the Chalabi group had gleaned or made up to further their agenda
The U.N. had nothing much to say except that they were still
checking. because they saw nothing.

about current affairs in Iraq. The most telling words from the report
that are available to the public are these. " Although we lack any
direct information," which in my opinion reflected that they only had
Chalabi's word and not much else.
There was quite a bit of public interest by now about Iraq too.
CNN got wind of a page or so of the Pentagon report to the president
and asked the Pentagon a few pointed questions .

anything different than the president has and that's tough to do )

Try to find 1 person in any of the uk / british polical NGs that agrees
with that.
In fact, the Democrats used to sing

Blair is a lying toe-rag, just look through the painted-on smile - its so

It's just that their reports were re-written "sexed" up, had 12 year old
phd thesis stuff added, etc.
Now Bliar's cooking in his own juices.
He's out, its only a matter of time.
