The Constitution is written in English, also.
I can't believe our government hasn't translated it into Spanish.
It should also be in Spanish which is spoken by many Americans, and
not to mention the western states were once All Spanish speaking!
1. They weren't states.
The region of the western "states" were once and still
is Spanish speaking
2. None of them ever had a majority that spoke Spanish. At the time they
were possessions of Spain or of Mexico, that possession was in name
only, as the hispanophones were vastly outnumbered by natives, who spoke
their own native languages.
The Mexicans or so called "Spanish" in the western "states"
were mostly Native American.
3. You're just fucking crazy.
And you are a Vigilante.

If by that you mean that there are some people who still speak espa~ol,
certainly, but it's not the case in any of the States that the majority
are, or have ever been, hispanophones.

And they spoke -- and still do speak -- their native languages. Not
Spanish, in most cases.

Hispanic culture was always based on landed aristocracy who didnt much
care what the slaves & serfs spoke so long as they obeyed. WASP
culture was always based on the Yeoman farmer class, which viewed
slaves and serfs as cheap labor *competition*, and understood
perfectly well that if it was permitted, that an aristocracy would
manipulate the political economic system, as it had at Rome, to
bankrupt the farmers and replace them with land consolidation, vast
estates, and villas for the rich.
Thus, while the Spanish lords could have educated the Native Americans
in the West, and integrated them into Hispanic culture, they didnt
*bother* to do so, The Latin aristocracy was content to just exploit
the people, whereas the WASPS who came in chose to exploit the natural
resources, and the Almighty Dollar decided who should own the land.
It is a ploy by the aristocracy today to promote Spanish so as to
divide the nation into various groups so that none of them will have
the power to challenge the power structure. Gibbon noted that the
Roman aristocracy encouraged immigration from tribes that lacked sound
republican traditions to get cheap labor. They then funded the
campaigns of demagogues who pandered to religion and ethnicity while
making hidden deals to benefit the rich at the expense of the middle
class.
Machiavelli noted how the rich funded the campaigns of demagogues
promising what we now call 'entitlements''. (Bread & Circuses)=(beer &
football). They would reduce the taxes on the rich, but in fairly
short order, the middle class was broke. So then, he said, they go to
the rich to *BORROW* the money to run the government.
English only would at least eliminate those who cannot read the
constitution and the bill of rights, and who therefore, dont
understand what their rights really are. How can the public be
informed when one part is given information spun one way in one
language, while another group gets it spun in a different language?
Isnt it bad enough already with campaign ads in doublespeak English?
