the United States reports that British intelligence finding in a State of
the Union Address. The Democrats in Congress vote to go to war against
Iraq. The United Nations approves the use of force against Iraq. Then the
Democrats in Congress start backpeddling. The British government stands by
its intelligence report.
I'll tell you what is going to happen next in that "game", Mark - the
Democrat Party is going to get its propagandist ***** whupped in the 2004
elections.

were able to shut their eyes to the truth as the lies were told.
Now.....the lies are being covered with light and it gets harder for the

lies and his supporters have values that do not require them to call for

I wince when the truth tarnishes someone that I admire. All men have faults

The evidence that the British used to to come to their assessment was
different then that used by the CIA. And British intelligence still
stand by their statement.
I get a kick out of those folks who claim that Bush is too stupid to
breathe yet is capiable of Clintonesque duplicity.

Exactly. The Democrat Party is beginning to sink under the weight of its
own charge that Bush is "a moron". It's amazing to watch what "a moron"

I too consider myself a moderate. I have many rather entertaining
flames directed at me from both left-wing and right-wing posters in here
and other newsgroups to prove it, as well as a backlog of my own posts
in which I've criticized Republicans and Democrats alike. I think
you're going more than a little overboard here. The decision to go to
war would likely have been made whether or not the claim of Iraq buying
uranium in Africa was credible or not. It's unlikely that that single
incident made a significant difference in support for the war either
before or during OIF. Therefore, there would have been no need for Bush
to have inserted in this statement into the SOTU if he did not believe
it to be true, or at least reasonably credible.
If a conflict involving a maximum of 10,000 dead all told--military
and civilian--counts as "massive violence" these days, then there is
more "massive violence" going on on Earth today than I care to imagine.
If you calculate the average number of people who died each year under
the Saddam regime, by 2004 we will have saved many times that number of
lives.
You may consider yourself a moderate, but when you imply that I am a
.... how did you describe it? ... a "sycophant who enjoys the feeling of
power that blowing people into bloody parts gives me," you're going to
have trouble convincing me of that. There *were* moderates who
supported the war and even now more than half the country still believes
that ousting him was the right thing to do. If you imply that 50+% of
the country are bloodthirsty sycophants, you lose a lot of claim to the
title of moderate.
