Perhaps the proper thing to have done was to have waited until
Hans Blix had finished his search for WMD ?

But oh no, impatient George W was beating the war drums.

How much more time does George W want ?

Actually, Dumbya played 9/11 for everything he could. Prior to that,
national debate focused on the economy. Dumbya was coming under
increasingly more pressure from all sides with respect to his inability
to solve the growing economic difficulties. His tax cuts, aimed at tax
relief for the rich were roundly decried by economists, he blew a
surplus and brought us back to defecit and was faced with increasing
unemployment, none of which he had any clue as to how to address.
Those, coupled with his attempts to reduce services for his neediest
citizens, and his attempts to circumvent the Constitution and introduce
school vouchers as well as to usurp states' constitutional powers with
respect to education, all were placing him under increasingly more
pressure.
And then came 9/11 and a uniting of the people that the US hadn't seen
since December 7, 1941. Even Dumbya, in his ignorance, acted
appropriately and sought the righteous indignation of the nation he was
appointed to lead. And in doing so, Dumbya found the ONLY thing he
could do well: Make war.
So, his handlers thought, why not continue with a good thing? He
clearly can't manage the economy; so let's distract the stupid American
People with another war. Iraq was handy, and besides, look at all that
oil. Why, we might even profit from a little war with Iraq.
And so we did. But Dumbya's handlers should have waited a little
longer. Had they started that war, say early next year, all the
information now coming to light would not have done so until AFTER the
election of 2004. Riding high, Dumbya, counting on the stupidity of the
American public likely would have ridden to a second term, and insured
Republican control of Congress. Now, given time, that is questionable.
And as more and more evidence about what he knew and didn't know, comes
to light, additional questions are raised.
Perhaps it will work out for the best in the end. Hopefully, we'll get
a Democratic Congress which will once again make certain that our
Government takes in the necessary revenues to operate, and reduce the
defecit. And hopefully, we'll get a Democratic President who will have
whole lot more intelligence than Dumbya who can administer our
Government for the benefit of its people, and not for his well-heeled
friends, as Dumbya clearly is.
