Take a good long look at this country's mainstream politics. You are

I liked Carter, not a good politician (guppy in a tankful of sharks)
but he a a great human being first...politician second. Clinton was

I support women's rights. Gay marriage is a non-issue to me. Marriage
is a sacrament that ties more to religion than the state. Hence, it is

Yeah. I think much of the hate is driven by a totally blind or, at
best, a misguided consensus on the part of the far left libs. They
lost the election twice and they are still pissed. On a far more
alarming note, it is obvious that they have lived the "good", free life
(perhaps a little too long) and have completely lost sight of what it
took to make it happen in the first place. There was and still is a
dire need to confront the Islamofascist movement and the sooner the
better. It is not going away and the longer we turn a blind eye to it
the bigger it will get and the more difficult (and bloody) it will
become to defeat. People today don't seem to grasp the history of this
ongoing nemesis headache. Don't get me wrong, I hate this war, but I
do support it. I just wish there was leadership in place that could

million gallons of gas every day, that equates to 5.2 x 10^8 lbs of

transportation the U.S. What about the gasoline consumption throughout
the rest of the world? What about those very countries who have no
emissions regulations or standards? And this doesn't even factor in
plants that use fossil fuel to generate electricity.
But it is not solely anthropogenic CO2 causing climate warming. It may
have initiated this current climate warming and maintained its momentum
until other factors came into play. For the record, we can stop ALL
CO2 emissions today, it will hardly make a difference. Want some
advice? Your efforts would be better spent figuring out how to
surviving the global sauna than trying to stop it. This is something
we should have took action with some 40 years ago, not now.

is not in the atmosphere...it's in our oceans as carbonic acid which is

"Extra" CO2??? Quite an interesting quantitative assessment. I see
science is no friend of yours. Seems to be an extraordinarily common
trait among conservatives.
Please disclose a physical description giving details on how CO2 is not
harming our oceans--our planet's single biggest carbon sink.
The scientific community is anxiously awaiting your earth-shattering
revelation.
CO2 lowers PH (acidify), which kills corals, among other things.
Very good! These organisms are also at the lower end of the food
chain which will disrupt immediate ecosystems.
Here's one for you. How do we know this CO2 is from human activity?
Hint: isotopic signature, specifically C14

1. Lower PH kills coral that protects land where we live. No coral, then
the storms come in and kill us.
2. Dead zones are starting to appear in the oceans. Many rely on food
from the oceans, and if we kill off everything in the sea, we'll die.
3. Salt marshes and deltas are disapearing. Same overall effect as #1.

Exactly. Go to the head of the class.
You didn't answer the question on how do we distinguish the difference
between CO2 that occurs naturally (burning forests) and that which
occurs from human activity (anthropogenic). But that's OK.
When trees and other forms of plant life burn, when taking samples
there is presence of C14 isotopes a.k.a. radio carbon 14 along with the
C12. However, when fossil fuels burn there is virtually no C14
present, for all intents and purposes, none.
You see.........you learned something. Congrats! You know something
that roughly 95% of Americans do not know. So the next time you hear a
tree hugger going off on a rant proclaiming CO2 is the culprit behind
global warming, you can challenge him and his nonsense.
Truth is, at 3000 meters and at 50% humidity, you can double the amount
of the present CO2 and you will not increase radiative forcing by even
1%.
Moreover gases like methane and aerosols have a much greater greenhouse
effect than CO2. Water vapor in itself is a powerful greenhouse
component.
And yes "FOR NOW" climate warming IS responsible for a late and less
active hurricane season. Why? When you have longer summers and
shorter winters in the arctic regions, the ice sheets are melting
longer and at a faster rate. The resulting cold water has to go
somewhere. In the case of the Atlantic basin, the surplus of cold
water along with the seasonal Labrador currents flowing southward have
left the Atlantic considerably cooler than last year. However, as the
cold water has tempered and cooler temperatures are setting in further
north the thaw slows and the currents begin to subside. As the
Atlantic temperatures begin to increase so does the the tropical
activity. There are other factors involved in hindering their
development such as the shearing effects of upper level low pressure
systems, but, the SSTs play a major role in allowing tropical systems
to develop.
Now when the polar ice is finally gone...the dynamics of our oceans
currents will again change which in turn will greatly affect our
weather patterns as well--and I really can't say for the better. I
really feel sorry for the poor bastards being born today. If they only
knew what's on the road ahead..

mpg, instead of a gas-guzzler at around 17 mpg.
Me, I'd rather have the convenience of a high torque V-8. It's a
proven, reliable piece of engineering, it can 're-charge' in the
time it takes to refill a gas tank (<3 minutes) and can do everything I
need it to.
Your 'lectric vehicle, on the other hand, has limited range, limited
torque (thus limited capacity) and can recharge in a measly six HOURS.
And, it also pollutes (until such time as the entire power grid is
powered by Nuclear, wind or solar power). Just because the pollution
may be one step removed from you does not you are not responsible (and,
for a coal fired plant, the amount of particulates put in the air to
recharge an electric vehicle is MORE than if you just drove a gas
powered vehicle the same distance).
Me, I'd rather live in a city with clean air from electric cars, than
one choked with sut from fossel fuel engines.

been warming for well over 10,000 years (and the glaciers have been
retreating for the last ~17,000 years) kinda puts a damper in your
