Jack Van Impe says he's been asked by Condoleeza Rice to deliver an
outline of apocalyptic prophecies to the White House
"I am not sure whether he knows all of the prophecies and how deep of
a student he has been in God's Word, but I was contacted a few weeks
ago by the Office of Public Liaison for the White House and by the
National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice to make an outline. And
I?ve spent hours preparing it. I will release this information to the
public in September, but it?s in his hands.
He will know exactly what is going to happen in the Middle East and
what part he will have under the leading of the Holy Spirit of God."

Is there any authoritative source that such a briefing actually
happened? It should be made very public -- as alarming as the
rantings of this madman are, it's infinitely more alarming if he
actually was contacted by officials in the government and asked to do
what he claims. I'd really like to know how much truth there is to
his claim that the White House is taking his ravings seriously.
'The administration hastened from the beginning to
persuade us that defending America against terror
cannot be done without seriously abridging the protections
of the Constitution for American citizens, up to and
including an asserted right to place them in a form
of limbo totally beyond the authority of our courts.
And that view is both wrong and fundamentally un-American.'
--Al Gore
didn't snip the .sig because -- damn. Why couldn't he have sounded
this sensible and passionate during the fricking CAMPAIGN three years
ago? A simple "Just what do you have against eight years of peace and
prosperity, anyway?" asked of candidate Bush during any of the debates
would have sunk Bush's ship.

I don't want to look it up right now, but inasmuch as I think he's
probably the worst president in my life time and I want him to be
beaten badly in the next election, I think you can trust me when I
say it's not as bad as it sounds. Bush invited Van Impe and a few
other crazy-assed evangelicals to the White House--which is bad
enough in itself--but did not ask for the prophecy outline. Van Impe
volunteered to send one to the President and then told made it sound
as if the President was asking for guidance. Van Impe came clean
about it--without admitting to doing anything wrong--a few days
later.

Another [C-SPAN] caller made the point more angrily
'For every American who gets killed, they should take
20 Iraquians (his term) and hang them from lamp posts.'
This, he explained, is how the Klingons from Star Trek
would handle it.
