Kerry showed us what a good job he did in Vietnam. We all know what
happened there.
No, we don't all know what happened there. The general view today is
that the kids who went to Vietnam served our nation well. They did not
fail us. What several different administrations: Truman's,
Eisenhower's, Kennedy's, LBJ's, and Nixon's did was act without
thinking against a former colony that sought independence from foreign
occupation--Japanese, French, then American. Sound familiar? Your
remark is a discharge of spit on brave men and women whom we sent to

As to Mr. Kerry's tour, every member of the Riverine (or "Brown
Water") Navy willing or able to talk about that experience even now
recalls it as pure hell. Were you there? Or were you boring holes in
the sky over Texas in an obsolete aircraft? Or where? Don't spit on a
swift-boat commander and his crew unless you're willing to serve four
months of pure hell.
