Just trying to educate myself... I'm wondering if anyone knows who the
top three most likely candidates for president will be from each party

Thanks.

Neither McCain nor any of the senator wannabes or
congress wannabes have even a "dark horse" chance.
Let's look at the recent history - Since 1932, five
governors have been elected - Bush 43, Clinton, Reagan,
Carter, FDR,
two vice presidents - Bush 41, Nixon
one senator (JFK)
So the surest path to the Whitehouse is via a
governor's mansion. Mitt Romney (R-MA) has been quietly
campaigning since the '04 election. Sen George Allen (R VA)
has moved moved from the VA governor's mansion to
Capital Hill with a strong majority and leaving his protege
in his place.
So far, they appear to be the only GOP contenders - so far.
There are many others trying to see if there is financial
support for a run.
I have a hunch that Bush may preempt the convention
and replace VP Cheney with George Allen, thus the
ticket would likely become Allen/Romney
Sen Jon Corzine (D-NJ) has started his campaign with a
bang by grabbing the NJ Governor's mansion.
The list of Democrat wannabes is lengthy: Clinton, Kerry,
Gore, and round up the usual suspects <G>
This is only for the nominations ...
