Pentagon: Iraq War Faces $4B Shortfall

WASHINGTON (AP) --

Two days of Capitol Hill hearings on Iraq have produced some new
details on Bush administration plans for the beleaguered campaign, but
not all that lawmakers had hoped for.

The final session this week was scheduled for Thursday before the
Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

National security adviser Condoleezza Rice also planned a rare visit
to the Capitol on Thursday to meet with Republican lawmakers.

$4 billion? Fuggedaboutit. Probably more like $40 billion.

Harry

$4 billion for national defense, you say? Wow. Meanwhile, back in John
Kerry's own Massachusetts, over $16 billion was spent on "The Big Dig"
alone!
What's "The Big Dig", you ask? Something to do with national defense
perhaps, given Kerry's repeated claim to be a "war hero" and "concerned
about defending America"?
Nope. It turns out "The Big Dig", which cost you taxpayers over FOUR TIMES
AS MUCH as the $4 billion that our poster Harry is furrowing his troubled
brow about, was nothing more than a giant make-union-work boondoggle,
approved and lauded by ultraliberal Democrat John Kerry, to take down a
portion of elevated highway in downtown Boston and stuff it underground.
Obviously a project of MUCH more importance than fighting the war on
terrorism.
Say what you will about liberal Democrats, but at least they feel they have
their spending priorities straight! And something as insignificant as
defending America, fighting terrorism, and protecting the American people
isn't high on the Democrat Party list. But "The Big Dig" sure is........
Way to go, Kerry and the Democrats!

Of course, one would have to ask where that $16 billion went. I'm assuming a
lot of workers and their families had jobs, food on the table and money to
enjoy life. Subsequently paid taxes and refilled the pot. Wow that sounds
horrible to you? Maybe you would rather it went into some corporations bank
account, so they can "service" some country where the quality of work is
never an issue and funds are eaten up by administrative overhead. Wasted on
missiles and bombs to destroy the lives of innocent people while we bark
away about how "moral" we are. Bringing peace through war.

How's that war on drugs going? You can't have a war on a noun, it doesn't
work. You can't fight an ideal. The only way to stop terrorism is to stop
bothering people. Bush and pals had their war plans draw up before they even
took office. They are the bullies that invoked this whole mess.

There is no threat to america, it's all a lie (you need to get the blinders
off). Make driving cars illegal, if you want to make a difference both in
the death rate and our reliance on the oil.

Way to go, Kerry and the Democrats!

Go back to kissing ***** for a living.

At least in the US, you've got something to show for it.
In Iraq, you've got nothing but continued death and distruction of
anything that resembles a civilian infrastructure.
So, as for me, I'd rather not dump American Taxpayer dollars down rat
holes overseas, and spend the money here - where it will do some good.

Pentagon: Iraq War Faces $4B Shortfall

The members of Congress are useless if they don't demand a cost for the
continuation of the occupation of Iraq. The arrogance of Wolfowitz is
astounding. He told the Congress that when he was ready and the time was
right he might tell them just how much taxpayer money is required to do the
Jews' bidding in Iraq. Thank you President Bush for servicing your country.
