Well, why arent' YOU panicking?
Going from a projected surplus of several percent of GDP to a deficit
of perhaps 8 percent of GDP (on an accrual basis, assuming Bush is
reelected and continues his spending ways)
is actually something to really worry about.
That' serious stuff.
A President who lies to the congress and the people about secret
intelligence only he controls, to start a war, is actually something
to really worry about.
We have no way to check and balance national intelligence. There is no
court, nor anyone else, who can stop a President from saying
"Intelligence says Iraq is going nuclear"
What that means is that President Bush has taken to himself the right
to declare war.
Because were he telling the truth, war was appropriate.
When a President subverts the constitution that way, in a way we can't
stop, to start wars, then shouldn't we PANIC?
It's a classic dictatorial power, the power to decide, on your own, to
go to war.
There was no way a Senator could defend herself from that abuse. If
the administration presents intelligence information in a briefing
right before the war which DOES NOT INCLUDE ALL RELEVANT INFORMATION
and instead paints a one-sided view that Iraqi is GOING NUCLEAR, then
really that Senator's vote has no meaning.
And the damage done to us is not trivial.
You may laugh it off, but Hosni Mubarek, a man who every day faces
assassination by terrorists, a man who has barely survived plots many
times, is a smart guy about terrorists. He knows them better than
anyone in this country does.
He says that the war in Iraq will make bin Laden into a hundred bin
Laden-.
I think that's pretty much correct.
The FIERCE hatred which our actions have generated are very likely to
get a huge number of us killed.
A hundred terrorists headed our way will lead to X deaths.
A thousand terrorists headed our way will tead to 10X deaths.
That's not so great, and it is a geniune reason to get worried.
And look at the election. President Bush has ads which are just
shockingly dishonest.
He says, over and over, things which are flat out lies.
He says Kerry want to get rid of wiretaps.
That's a blatant lie.
He says Kerry has a plan to raise gas taxes 50 cents.
That's a blatant lie.
He says Kerry opposes body armor for troops
That's a blatant lie.
Bush has gone off the chart in lying.
Seriously.
He is straight out of Goebbels.
Think about it honestly. It's true.
He says lie after lie after lie after lie, day after day after day.
That is a serious assault on our system of free elections.
With hundreds of millions of dollars a truly dishonest man, as sadly
President Bush is, can trick the public into having false beliefs
about the candidates for President and what they favor.
That is a stab in the back of democracy itself.
It really is. sorry. I am not exaggerating. It really is true.
And it SHOULD scare you.
What if Hillary Clinton were to do that?
What if David Duke did?
You may think Presidnet Bush is just a bumbling guy who can't do much
harm.
