Stop the massacre in Iraq! We gotta get rid of Bush!

Should have thought about that when we allowed 50 million people to vote
him into office. Don't get me started about "popular vote this" and
"electoral college that" or "Florida scandal the other thing".

That's not the way we do things in America."
Mr. Bush, this is EXACTLY THE WAY we do things in America, and you know
that!

50 million people voted for Bush, and they happened to be distributed
among enough states to influence the election to his favor. That's what
happened. Meanwhile, enough registered voters people abstained from the
election, that had they voted in opposition to Bush, the results would
have been an unprecedented defeat of a Republican candidate.
That's the democratic reality.
The other reality is that every nation that has stood by and allowed the
"massacre" as you call it, to take place, shares the responsibility.
I did not see a "coalition" of military powers standing in the way of
the United States' objectives. Your nation expressed a certain amount
of dissent in the diplomatic forum, but what did your military do to
prevent the invasion? Were there German Navy ships in the Persian Gulf?
Did Schroeder persuade Blair, Chirac, Rongji and Putin to establish an
opposition coalition and show the United States that there would be no
war unless we were willing to start a world war in order to have it?
NO! Your nation did NOT stand in opposition to the United States.
When the chips were down, you chose "US Rules OK!"
That's the military reality.
Wishful thinking does not prevent wars once the war machine is running.
Diplomacy can go a long way toward preventing wars. But diplomacy
failed here as well. The last option, opposition, presented itself, and
your nation and others chose not to pursue that option. Now there is a
war being fought in the Middle East, the war is escalating, and the
consequences of this war will not be avoided. Your nation did nothing
to stop this war. And now all you can think to do about it is complain
on USENET about Bush.
