Well, let's see --
This story is from CNS -- Christian News Service.
And it quotes heavily from the ACLJ -- American Center for Law and
Justice -- an extreme, radical, cabal of rightwing lawyers.
Why should we believe one word of this tale?
You can do whatever the hell you want to, clown. But one thing you CANNOT
do is refute even one single item that was reported in that news piece.

Whether or not that news piece is a lie, it is certainly dishonest.
It repeats, again and again, that the student was "suspended" for
saying "God Bless." The subject line of this thread mimics that:
"Student suspended..."
When people hear the words "student was suspended," it conjurs up
images of a student being sent home from school for several days or
weeks as a disciplinary action, and as a result missing and even
failing classes.
That's not what happened at all. Read the article carefully, and
you'll see that the only thing the student was "suspended" from was
the broadcast itself - IOW, the principal said "Look, we're gonna have
someone else do the broadcast for a month or so."
The principal almost certainly did this because he was worried about
the school being dragged through lawsuits over use of public funds to
evangelize in violation of the First Amendment. As it happened, he
got hit with lawsuits anyway. There's nothing schools can do: no
matter what policies they follow, whenever someone says the word "God"
in a school, there's a good chance the school's getting sued.
It's sad the lengths that Christians will go to in order to demonize
the public school system - implying that this kid was disciplined or
suspended from school by demonic officials, when the truth is
certainly far more reasonable.
Cheers,
Jon

Exactly.
But what else would you expect from a gang who considers themselves morally
superior to everyone else.

I understand it, but the article is written in the hopes that people
will not.
What the Christian authors of this article probably want you to
believe is that a conversation something like this ensued:
....
STUDENT: Have a happy holiday, and God Bless.
PRINCIPAL: What!! You just said "God Bless!" God has no place in
modern life! Get out of my school, you little cultist twerp! You're
suspended!!
....
What probably happened was more like this:
....
STUDENT: Have a happy holiday, and God Bless.
PRINCIPAL: You know, we've got to talk about the way you signed off.
You can't say "God Bless" in a school.
STUDENT: Why not?? It's a free country, isn't it?
PRINCIPAL: I understand you're worried about free speech, but if I let
students talk about God in a broadcast, the school could get sued for
using public money to evangelize to kids who aren't religious. And
it's my job to protect the school from liability.
STUDENT: Yeah, well, I'm not going to stop talking about God just
because you're worried someone might get offended.
PRINCIPAL: I really can't have that. The last thing we need is a
major controversy over religion. I think we'll just let someone else
do the broadcast for a month, until this all cools down. You can
start it up again in April.
STUDENT: Oh, really. Well, you were worried about lawsuits? Guess
what, you got one.
....
That's my take. But the point is, there's no indication from the
article that the principal did anything evil, mean-spirited,
psychotic, or anti-Christian - yet, the loaded language in the article
is trying really hard to lead you to believe he did.
Cheers,
Jon

You sure have a good old time inventing things that other people said.
I sort of wonder why you bother with a newsgroup at all - why not
just type something incredibly stupid, sign it "Mike", and then type a
response saying "Ha! Mike! You're incredibly stupid!" That's not
far from what you're doing now, anyway.
No, I had no trouble understanding the article. But anyone who didn't
read it carefully would be left with the impression that a student was
suspended from school for saying "God Bless" - and that's exactly what
the authors intended. That is dishonest.

That's some nice rading comprehension there. Ninure asked me a
question, and you responded, "Ask Jon." Okay...
No, the student was not suspended from class. The first paragraph
would have you believe he was, but read on and you'll see that all the
principal did was replace him as the school newscast anchor for one
month.
