Both reasons you give are valid. Especially since Tillman was a
poster-boy. To have him bad-mouth the GWOT would be intolerable.
One would be potential negative comments he could make about the
so-called war on terror (when we are bombing civilians and missing Bin
Laden by hundreds of miles) or equally likely, DRUGS. Don't forget, for
all their evil little brains, the Taliban crushed Poppy cultivation. It
is now back in full production, often with US troops either looking the
other way or having to cooperate with the war lords who own the drug
business. Do NOT be surprised if drugs are smuggled into the US by our
own CIA or some soldiers. This kind of thing happened in the 80's as
well. Tillman may have been silenced for either of these reasons.
