LOL, you can't possibly be serious? This is really funny, I don't know
where to begin.
Firstly, most republicans advocate less government, Hitler was more of a
socialist (NAZI = National Socialist Party), therefore I think he would have
more in common with the Democrats. Hitler was also adamantly Anti-gun and
would have even MORE in common with Democrats.
I really love the Union comment, I think of those two grocery store Union
workers in California that recently assaulted and battered a replacement
worker as he attempted to break the line. Wow, sounds like their resorting
to physical violence for people disagreeing or conflicting with them?
Sounds pretty FASCIST to me!

It is a republican form of government

It features extreme forms of nationalism.

While Nazism is a form of fascism, fascism is not Nazism.

Fascism creates "enemies of the fatherland" in order to gain public

support.

These "enemies" usually include liberals, socialists, trade unionists, and
conspicuous minority groups.

Fascism is not conservative, although it often claims to be traditional.

Fascism will replace a free press with propaganda.

We can debate the meaning of a word or acrynym all day, but all my facts
still stand. Both Hitler and Musselini are historically known as
nationalists.
Considering the left wing advocates nationalizing industries and companies
(this is fact domestically and internationally), I don't see how you could
not align the left wing with totaltarians such as the NAZIs & Fascists.
My other point still remains too, they also agree with these extremists on
issues like gun control.
See Regulation against Jewish Possession of Weapons, 1938.
But good honest debate is what freedom is about. Even when you're wrong.

Good point. Republicans have not been very loyal to their ideology,
especially George W. Lately they have just been a benign tumor versus a
malignant tumor.
I would rather not have a tumor.

in THEORY, the republicans claim they want smaller government, but only
smaller on their terms. if creating a larger military industrial complex can
be done with taxes, they are all for it. pathetic. only if they can make
money is bigger government okay.

What makes it ludicrous, when the current Republican administration is
taking many actions very similar to those of Fascist government in the
1930's?
The creation of Homeland Security Department is very much like the
centralization of the police functions in Germany that created the
Geheimestatzpolizei. The translation of that term would be Unified National
Police, and the short name was Gestapo. The general demonization of Arabic
and Muslim people is quite a bit like the demonization of minoirities under
the Germans (something the Italians did not do, interestingly enough). The
use of an attack on the nation is being used to stoke Nationalism and cut
back on civil rights [Reichstag fire in Germany, 9/11 here in the US]. You
can see the very totalitarian methods of stoking Nationalism in the
demonization of John Lindh and the Dixie Chicks. So far, most Americans
haven't bought it, fortunately for America.
The creation of the military courts with no access to independent defense
lawyers, and the ability of the government to arbitrarily arrest someone and
hold them without charges in secrecy without notifying anyone where they are
is a characteristic of both Germany in the 1930's and the US in this decade.
We do not to this day know how many people the federal government arrested
and held in secret after 9/11, or how many they still hold. We do know of
many who were deported with no notice and no hearing, but we do not know
what justification the government used. Admiral Poindexter's Total
Information Awareness was probably the greatest threat to the privacy of
every individual American that has ever been mounted by any government. The
potential for misuse was and remains extremely high. [Do you really think it
was shut down? I don't. It was just handed over to a more covert agency.]
"Trust us. We won't misuse these powers." Yeah, Right. That is what was said
twenty years ago about the laws permitting confiscation of property the
government alleged was used in or resulted from a crime even if no charges
swere ever filed. That was one of the most abused laws in the second half of
the Twentitieth Century. Anyone who trusts Ashcroft or Bush is a fool.
If you watched "Threat Matrix" this evening you will have seen a masterful
piece of propaganda explaining why Homeland Security Police have to be
allowed to use their judgement regarding when to use torture to protect the
US but mustn't be required to explain in court.
I do not claim that this means that it is a foregone conclusion that the
Republicans are in the process of establishing a Fascist dictatorship in the
US, but the parallels are clearly there. Denying them is extremely
dangerous.

I think you mean "more powerful government." Nazism, communism, fascism, and
totalitarianism are collectivist forms of government; authoritarianism is
use of power for its own sake. It seems to me that liberal democracies, with
their expectation of government services, will provide for the largest
government with the most implied but not literal power.
