I remember the liberals being almost in awe of the Soviet Union. Liberals
seem to worship at the feet of Communists, and the USSR was an excellent
example of that.
Ronald Reagan wasn't stupid, like those liberals were. Reagan recognized
the USSR for the evil empire that it was, and didn't hesitate to say so.
Being the embodiment of a great evil, the Soviet Union needed to be opposed,
and President Reagan did that, powerfully and wisely.
Reagan busted up the USSR, and liberals to this very day resent President
Reagan for having done that.

Anyone with two brain cells to rub together can see that Reagan's posturing
and rhetoric had nothing to do with the collapse of the Soviet Union. It
collapsed under it's own economic inviability. It could as just as easily
been Carter, Bush 1, or Clinton. It was nothing more than taking advantage
of world affairs to advance an absurd personal conviction.
Reagan was as guilty as little Shrub at oversimplifying the issues, it
wasn't about "good" or "evil". By your standards anyone in China must by
association be "evil" because of a arbitrary difference in governmental
philosophy. This is second grade level "us and them" thinking. It's childish
and sophomoric. These issues are far more complex that Ronnie "Who am I
again" Reagan or George "Dumbya" Bush could ever grasp, and they expect
everyone else to think on the same level of simple minded propaganda.
Obviously it works on some of us....
