I work in a business that is driven by the tax code. The

higher the

taxes the better for us, because our product is tax-free,

and people

who are in a high tax bracket can save a lot of money by

using it. So

don't get me wrong, I can understand why people can love

high taxes.

But why do Democrats in particular seem to love high

taxes?

Here is a little insight. All the Democrats' talk about

reducing the

deficit is code for raising taxes. They never mention the

other side

of the deficit equation--spending. After all, we could

nicely reduce

the deficit by reducing spending instead of raising taxes.

Why don't

the Democrats mention this? Because they don't give a

rat's ***** about

the deficit, they just want to raise taxes.

And why do the Democrats want to raise taxes? To help the

little guy?

No, because no politician ACTUALLY cares about the little

guy since

the little guy is, well, little, and has very little

power. They just

use that as a smokescreen. Why the Democrats want high

taxes is so

they can SPEND those taxes, and then take credit for them.

Must be

nice to spend other people's money, and then take credit

for it.

Maybe some credit goes to the people who are actually

paying the

bills, the taxpayer.

Not only do the Democrats want to take credit for the

spending, after

all, Republicans in government are really no better on

this score.

Democrats want the taxes to expand the scope and power of

government

so that the unions for the government employees have lots

of money to

support Democrats in the next election. It's really as

simple as

that.

Now those high taxes give people like me a nice job, so I

shouldn't

complain. But maybe I could be doing something more

productive

instead of helping people legally avoid tax. Maybe if we

had nice low

tax rates, people would spend more time earning and less

time avoiding

and the entire economy would grow at a faster rate. That

eventually

could make tax revenues grow dramatically. After all,

government

really can't raise taxes, they can only raise tax rates.

Think about

it.

Gee. I'm Democrat and all of this is news to me.

Are you aware yet that the GOP won control of the House and Senate in 2000,
won control of the House and Senate in 2002, and won the California
governorship in 2003? Or is that all news to you also?

That homeshooling didn't teach you how to read very well,
did it, Babs? Now let's go with the balance of the
statement:
I live in a wholly Republican run state with a wholly
Republican run
federal government. My tax dollars have INCREASED. Not only
income tax, but sales tax as well. And, you are absolutely
right about reducing the amount of money paid out. I spent 6
years working in a Republican run administration and I have
never seen so much waste in all of my life. 6 management
types for nearly every 2 workers. And, before you say it,
no, I was not a worker; I was management--specifically a
supervisor. Special interest vendors that charge two to
three times the amount. Contract bid paperwork so
complicated that no one with a reasonable price would have
the least amount of interest in putting in a bid unless. A
governor who would go so far as to spend hundred of
thousands of dollars to re-shoot a commercial slot for
advertising natural resources just so he could wave his hand
and nod in it. Highways overpasses ripped out and remade
because some political kiss-butt administrator didn't know
what he was doing and designed the thing wrong. Other
administration fired for graft after they got caught by
local newspapers with their hands in the till and passing
out contract favors. Other administration driving top end
SUVs and Lincoln Towncars on the tax payers dollar. Millions
of dollars to implement a goal setting program for state
workers that none of the management actually used for
disciplinary or any other purpose. Managers told not to
discipline certain workers because they were "good for the
party" even though they were lousy at their jobs, showed up
late, took long lunch hours, etc. All told, "...more than
$500 million in misspent, or forfeited federal dollars," not
to mention millions of additional misspent state tax
dollars.

So... yeah, tell me how to get these pathetic Republicans
from misspending my tax dollars so that we can actually pay
for needed services and undoubtedly lower taxes in the same
breath.
