I work in a business that is driven by the tax code. The
higher the
taxes the better for us, because our product is tax-free,
and people
who are in a high tax bracket can save a lot of money by
using it. So
don't get me wrong, I can understand why people can love
high taxes.
But why do Democrats in particular seem to love high
taxes?
Here is a little insight. All the Democrats' talk about
reducing the
deficit is code for raising taxes. They never mention the
other side
of the deficit equation--spending. After all, we could
nicely reduce
the deficit by reducing spending instead of raising taxes.
Why don't
the Democrats mention this? Because they don't give a
rat's ***** about
the deficit, they just want to raise taxes.
And why do the Democrats want to raise taxes? To help the
little guy?
No, because no politician ACTUALLY cares about the little
guy since
the little guy is, well, little, and has very little
power. They just
use that as a smokescreen. Why the Democrats want high
taxes is so
they can SPEND those taxes, and then take credit for them.
Must be
nice to spend other people's money, and then take credit
for it.
Maybe some credit goes to the people who are actually
paying the
bills, the taxpayer.
Not only do the Democrats want to take credit for the
spending, after
all, Republicans in government are really no better on
this score.
Democrats want the taxes to expand the scope and power of
government
so that the unions for the government employees have lots
of money to
support Democrats in the next election. It's really as
simple as
that.
Now those high taxes give people like me a nice job, so I
shouldn't
complain. But maybe I could be doing something more
productive
instead of helping people legally avoid tax. Maybe if we
had nice low
tax rates, people would spend more time earning and less
time avoiding
and the entire economy would grow at a faster rate. That
eventually
could make tax revenues grow dramatically. After all,
government
really can't raise taxes, they can only raise tax rates.
Think about
it.
Gee. I'm Democrat and all of this is news to me.
Are you aware yet that the GOP won control of the House and Senate in 2000,
won control of the House and Senate in 2002, and won the California
governorship in 2003? Or is that all news to you also?
