not applicable to '02'-03, right? You are not, I hope, claiming that
actions of such a serious nature as invading and occupying a sovereign
nation were justified by five year old intelligence estimates.
By the way, I do not recall that Clinton used those estimates to go
off and invade Iraq, thus putting our nation into a no-win quagmire
foreign policy nightmare. But if he had acted this way I would
certainly have opposed his actions.

Really? I actually do not think that this is true, at least not in the
sense I think you mean. In fact I believe that the Senate Select
Intelligence committee sees what the executive decides it will see,
unless it decides on its own initiative to conduct an investigation
and use its subpoena powers, and even then it has problems.
If, for example, an administration was attempting to misrepresent
intelligence information for the purpose of convincing other branches
of the government of the wisdom of a particular policy decision, I
rather doubt that intelligence information contradicting those
attempts would be included in briefings provided to the select
committee. If the committee decided to investigate such matters on its
own, they would have to know which people and which documents to
subpoena, and last time I looked intelligence agencies are pretty
clever at covering their asses in such situations.

Which is consistent with the estimates of the CIA when he was
president.
IT was believed but not known to be certain that Iraq still had some
old WMD. Stuff which would not warrant invasion, of course.
Clinton said - Iraq if left alone will make new WMD and use them.
So we shouldn't leaven them alone. We should have sanctions, we should
bomb places which could be used to make WMD.
He did not say Iraq had the things, because we did not know whether
they had them or not.
And after Clinton said that Iraq left alone would make WMD, in 1998,
we got to watch Iraq. And low and behold they did NOT resume weapons
production, as far as we could see.
And we got more additional info after Clinton left office. Iraq let
inspectors come in, free to go anywhere, anytime, unannounced.
Blix looked around and found - nothing.
The IAEA went in and found - nothing.
So even were you correct, and you are not, that Clinton had gone
beyond CIA estimates to say - Saddam has WMD - so what?
Subsequent info would have proved him likely wrong.
THe CIA estimates CHANGED from telling the truth - Iraq might have
some of their old weapons, but we can't be sure - to lies, such as
that Iraq was reconstituting their nuke program.
That change happened during the Bush admin, and the Bush admin
deserves blame for it.
Under Clinton, the CIA told the truth. Under Bush they gave him what
he wanted - lies.

angle, could be argued to support your view, but which can be looked
at differently as well.
So it fails to prove your point.
That you can't find any direct unambigous support proves that your
interpretation of those ambiguous words is not valid.
And that you don't understand that means you are not as good at
reading comprehension as others.
Here are some other examples like that - the "loathe the military"
comment in the Clinton letter to the ROTC head, the view that the "is
is " comment reflects dishonesty, the recent Newsmax tape about the
release of bin Laden by Sudan.
In those three cases many others like you Bob, who aren't so swift at
fine reading, see in the words meanings which others, more skilled at
understanding what they read, understand are not in fact in the words.
There are two kinds of people, apparently, Bob. Those who are good at
this sort of close reading of English and those who are not so good.
