Subject: Worst President??

The following appeared in the Durham, NC local paper
as a letter to the editor. Please forward to all on your list as this
will put things in perspective:

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They
complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush
was the worst president in U.S. history.

Let's clear up one point: We didn't start the war on terror. Try to
remember, it was started by terrorists on 9/11.

Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims.

FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.

From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never
attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of
18,333 per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never
attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. >From 1965-1975,
58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia
never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter
three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple
occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has
liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put
nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot,

and

captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
We lost 600 soldiers, an average of 30 a year. Bush did all this abroad
while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.

Worst president in history? Oh come on...

Well, among others, there are two Nobel Prize Laureates in Economics who
disagree with you here.
And defending Hitler is what I would expect from a right winger. Germany
declared war on us, not us on them. You would take over Iraq but not defend
the Koreans? Well, I wouldn't do either.
Actually, it was Eisenhower (Truman if you go back far enough) who got us
into Vietnam. Bush crushed the Taliban, but Reagan put them in power to
begin with, and now there is a resurgance. He's not the worst anyway, that
honor goes to Grant (know who he is?).

If the same parameters applied to Bush to "prove" he was a bad
president were applied to others, then FDR, Hoover and Carter were the
worst presidents in this century.

Bush is either the worst or dummest president, perhaps both. He lied
to the American people as an excuse to go to war which should see him
impeached. He inherited a budget surplus and the USA now has the
largest deficit ever, and he would be the first president since Hoover
to see a net loss of jobs. Not only is Bush a dummy, he is also a
liar.

"Well, among others, there are two Nobel Prize Laureates in Economics who
disagree with you here."

I guess that means the rest of us should pack up and go home, huh?
After all, two Nobel Prize Laureates in Economics must know everything
about everything...why don't the two "Nobel Prize Laureates" step off
their pedestals and come down here where the rest of us can see them?
"And defending Hitler is what I would expect from a right winger"
Twisting words around to suit your own meaning is what I would expect
from a "left winger". The previous post was in no way "defending
Hitler" any more than opponents of the Iraq war were "defending
Saddam".
"Bush crushed the Taliban, but Reagan put them in power to

begin with,"

??? huh? I assume you're referring to the conflict with the Soviets.
The Taliban was not even around then. The U.S. helped the mujahedeen.
The mujahedeen were unable to secure their own country after the
conflict because they were made up of different tribes from different
backgrounds. A lot of mujahedeen became what is now the Northern
Alliance. Some, including bin Laden, became al Qaeda, and still yet
others affiliated themselves with random tribes...which the Taliban
came in and crushed, thereby gaining power over Afghanistan. I don't
think it's fair to blame the U.S. because the mujahedeen couldn't
unify themselves. If the U.S. would have occupied Afghanistan in the
hopes of "nation building" there would have been a whole different
kind of outrage...I especially don't think the Soviets would have
taken too kindly to the U.S. occupying a nation that stood right on
their doorstep.
"Actually, it was Eisenhower (Truman if you go back far enough) who
got us

into Vietnam."

What? Maybe the policies that eventually led to us going there, but
not the sending our soldiers into battle. Actually, LBJ, while
running against Goldwater said that he was not going "to send American
boys nine or ten thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys
ought to be doing for themselves." Talk about your all time
backfires.

Someone out there, am I reading right, thinks Carter was good? Jeepers!
That's odd, where have you been? He has got to be the most dumbfounded guy
in office in decades! The man was so wimpy, our hostages were kept for over
a year! Our economy was terrible when he left, our American pride was nil.
It was a sinking ship, our America, and Billy the Peanut farmer had nothing
going for him but the innocence of Andy Taylor from the old black and white
TV show, do you recall that show?
He did win for the most innocent or how was that termed... honest? He was so
complacent and out to lunch, we weakened. Raising mim. wage is no great dead
at all, and it's no skin off the man who does it either.... What does a
president who knows so little have to loose with mim. wage raising? Well,
the employer or company who hires the employee pays that employee more...
and the gov. gets more money because the tax income goes up, (so you think
the economy is going up but it's the reverse!) Sure, the guy could have a
few extra dollars to spend on programs for the poor etc., but he makes more
POOR by raising the mim. wage, (like KERRY will do if he tries to do this
raise in that time limit for that much)
1. Kerry or Carter do not have to spend - just order companies to pay out
more
2. Companies who cannot afford to pay out more will drop the extra jobs that
they made for employees to reduce their spending OR Raise their prices to
pay for the extra mim. wages. If the company does that first thing, we got
one more unemployed person, one more on welfare, one more the gov. must pay
out to and so they lose money. If the second choice happens then the small
raise will defeat the whole purpose of the raises cuz they prices for
everything will go up to pay for that business to stay in business, so the
raises will pay for the forced raises in mim pay.
People will not be able to afford to buy as much cuz the companies are
having to charge more cuz of the wages they have to pay, thanks to those who
did nothing but say "pay the people more" .... If people stop buying as much
our economy goes DOWN.
Jobs Lost. More Poor People. More Gov. Help/aid. Failing Economy again!
OR
We must now pay more for goods and services to help the company afford
to pay for the extra incomes all at once.
and the biggie.... If it's a big big company like one of the oil
companies Kerry is invested in or one of his many investments in
pharmaceuticals -- they will have hundreds of employees who all of the
sudden need to get more mim. wages at once and not do any more work
production for it really, sooooo they move out of the United States and off
to a place where they can hire two for one or three employees for one! Then,
no jobs for the Americans who worked once, who could afford the now lowering
prices and enjoy the great economy upswing! Why mess with the economy if
it's going up?
The answer is; it's easy to look good and raise the mim. wages, but the
fallout from Carter and the certain fallout should Kerry be elected, will
make us worse, worse than before Bush, worse than when Clifton was in
office.
Carter was a peanut farmer who should have stayed a farmer all along. Kerry
is a brown noser who only goes with the most popular of poll results,
aiming his speeches at what sounds good, not what IS good, get it? He has
changed his mind more than you change your undies and he has not a solid
conviction in his body. You think it's abortion? Think again. A man doesn't
go out and nearly adversities for women to abort their babies unless there
is a good reason, and of course, there is... MONEY! The gigolo is a gold
digger, wanna be, no moral, go with the popular folk pansy who will say or
do or vote any way you want. That's not a leader, that's a disaster waiting
to happen! (like carter)

even harry truman was able to run a shoe store. george w. couldn't
run an oil company. a ball club ownership was handed to him. he has
done nothing with success except repay the wealthy for their support.
it amazes me how people can think of this man as a leader. the only
thing he has mastered is the swagger and his silly grin. he has done
nothing except spend tax dollars for the benefit of his cronies. he
and the administration have pillaged the money the US taxpayers have
given. his administration has brought about 1984 in 2004, something
that most of us would have thought of as being incredible thirty or
forty years ago.
he has presided over torture, imprisonment of americans without
charge, lies to everyone, a "no fly list" for punishing people, and
just about any other way to abuse people with governmental permission.
don't forget his administrative support of the TIPS program (thank
god that was even too much for the ultraconservatives to support).

How can there be any doubt that GW is the worst president we've ever
had? Iraq is now an Al Queda recruiting bonanza; all of the int'l
goodwill following 911 has been converted to loathing and resentment;
Bush has made the US more cynical, more dangerous, more despised and
more likely to suffer another terrorist attack. He has repeatedly
coddled the rich and added over $1 trillion to the deficit. I'm
getting as many people as I can to vote and also covering my bases
with a little black magic (see www.bushblackmagic.com) He's bad news

to happen! (like carter)

George

W. Bush is far and away the worst President in my lifetime.

*Really? Hmmm, lets see. Carter had unemployment at between 7.5 and
10%-Gas lines were common-businesses closing were so routine that when
they were on the news it didn't even shock us anymore-taxes were so
high that combined (state, federal, local, property, sales, etc) you
were spending close to 65% of your income for them and now it is below
60% and dropping-Carter waffled more on items than Clinton did, one
day he would say something and the very next day he would be 180
degrees in the other direction- and you say Bush Jr is the worst?
Child, you need to go stand in the corner till reality comes to call
for you.

The last four Presidents (and yes even Bill Clinton helped change this
somewhat) have dragged us out of the mess that Carter helped make
worse. Carter was one of the very WORST Presidents ever. Wonder why on
the most Admired President poll taken that Reagan and George Jr were
listed above Billy, and Carter was well into the bottom of the list?
Seems like a majority of the rest of the citizens do not agree with
you*

At least

Jimmy Carter, for all his faults, tried to do the right thing for the
American people. He tried to help through things like raising the
minimum wage and making our economy more efficient.

*see above*

And jobs were

created during his term.

*not with an unemployment rate of between 7 and 10% according to the
US Department of Labor. And please explain why Carter went through and
made a special office like the Department of Education as a payoff to
the Teachers Unions? Before Carter, we had no such office and had no
need for one, now we have these idiots and a cost of over 3 billion a
year...money that could go to fix the roadways and increase the
stability of Social Security*

Nixon also tried to do the right thing for

the American people.

*now your being just plain stupid. You were born in 68 and when Nixon
went, you were still in elementary school and had no knowledge of life
outside of your school and parents home.*

Reagan

*don't even try, when Reagan was president, you were just finishing up
middle school and heading to Jr High School and again had no worries
except to complain about Mom making meat loaf again for the second
time in two weeks*

and Bush, Sr., although I wasn't a big

fan of either of them, were sincere in their efforts to help people.

*You could not have been a fan of any of them as you did not even know
what politics were and only parroted what your parents and teachers
said. So far you have posted nothing to even allow us to begin to see
where your delusional post starts to connect to reality*

Our current occupant of the White House, couldn't give a rats *****
about anyone, except for the very wealthy who bankroll his campaign.

*now your parroting the DNC line, and completely ignoring that Bush
cut the tax payments for most families by over 2100 a year and
INCREASED the deductions for children and personal exemptions. I can
remember when your personal exemption was less then $1000. and your
kid was only worth $500. Now ALL of you are worth more then $3000
each. Wanna try that BS DNC lie again?*

Wake up America, our tax dollars have been wasted on the military for
far too long and our country has sufferred as a result.

*Oh please grow up! Clinton decimated our military and cut costs so
much that families are buying bullet proof vests so the military
members can get one because the military does not have enough due to
the idiotic cuts made by Bill Clinton and Company. And since you
obviously FAILED Economics 101, maybe you should go back and check
exactly how much the military budget is for the total US Budget. I
will give you a hint...it is less then 2%, Social Programs make up the
majority of over 48% of the Budget...so how have you suffered?*

Think of how

many better ways those funds could be spent. It's time to send George
W. Bush packing.

*so I take it then your wanting to cut the funds even further from the
military? What is next? Requiring the family of the military member to
supply them with bullets as with your costs cut, the military would
not be able to buy them? Are you listening to yourself you ignorant
little troll? Go back to the Group Home that you obviously live in and
leave the running of the country to the rest of the adults*

Thanks T.D....you make more sense in a few lines than all these
uneducated, brainwashed, philosophically ignorant, liberal puppies do
in page after page of their dreary drivel!
