That praise and support now comes from only a small segment of society, and
it dwindles in size every day. In these newsgroups, rabid right-wingers
used to outnumber moderates and liberals 10-to-1. Then, for a while, it was
about 2-to-1. Then about even. Now I think it's about 5-to-2 in favor of
moderates and liberals. I really hope the handfull of remaining right-wing

Peifer's doing drugs again.
Just a week ago, Peifer-the-loon got his ***** kicked by me over what a
declaration of war is, over what Bush actually said about Iraq and the war
on terror, and why Bush acted legally and constitutionally in ordering
warrantless searches to obtain foreign intelligence.
And as events have proven, Bush was totally correct in doing so because (1)
terrorist attacks against the USA were foiled due to it, and (2) since the
traitors at the NYTimes blew it open, the terroists have DUMPED their phones
to buy new, untraceble, ones.
I found the following on a blog that describe stupid leftist assholes like
Peifer, Zepp, Sid, Finch, WBarwell, Pramer, etc. to a "T."
"One thing I've noticed is there is no arguing with a lefty. The vast
majority will not concede on one point of their argument no matter if their
original spew was subsequently proven wrong or not. This leaves me terribly
frustrated.
Some things in common with all the lefty blogs I read are:
• The habit of quoting unreliable sources, one source only (usually an
unreliable editorial), or no sources to back up their point.
• Their point is almost always cloaked in an emotional plea or point of view
(i.e. save the children, save the whales, save the red cockheaded
woodpecker, look at the 100 million "innocent" people murdered by US white
phosphorus illegal weapons of mass destruction in Fallujah, etc.)
• Their arguments are almost always verbatim moveon.org or DNC talking
points
• Their arguments are mischaracterizations of fact, spun to blame the
current administration for all things evil (i.e. the implication that the
Bush administration was responsible directly for sending the coffins of
fallen warriors in commercial aircraft versus mil air; and that sending them
commercial air was somehow an heartless thing. Totally disregarding the fact
that Mil Air is booked rock solid because the Air Force doesn't have enough
planes to do what it would like to do, because and only because Clinton cut
us so far back that we are now dealing with a mere shadow of what we had.)
• They consistently argue from a point of near ignorance on all the topics
they discuss concerning the military, and exclusively rely on left-leaning
milbloggers to get their "truth" about the conflict. (Those left MilBloggers
being the reservists or others who were discipline problems in the first
place while they were in, and were usually the ones found bitching and
complaining about everything even when there wasn't a war.)
When they can't win the argument, they inevitably resort to personal
attacks. They will say we are "idiots" and automatons who are brainwashed by
Bush. They say we are SS stormtroopers who will rape and pillage on the word
of our sick and twisted Chain of Command, forgetting that most of us are
just regular Joes who only want to do our job and return to our wives and
family. They dehumanize us in their rants. They assassinate our characters
in the name of their beautiful ideals. The whole way they do business seems
more like totalitarian propaganda tactics than anything they accuse us of.
Suffice it to say, I think this kind of divisiveness is going to tear our
country apart
The reality is: the Left is wrong. The left will never impose its values on
us. The Left will never convince America that the Right is only composed of
liars, freaks, and whackos no matter how loud they yell, or how hard they
try. The reason they won't win is because the regular American citizen will
reject their childish rants and arguments, seeing them for the baseless
provocations that they are. If they tried to tone down the anger for a
little while, perhaps some of their legitimate gripes would be heard…but I
doubt they will do that."

The Alito Hearings? Until Dems regain control of the Senate, the very fact
that they actually got to question Alito is a victory. With the Judiciary
Committee stacked (according to Senate Rules, of course - no complaint

I don't expect one when Alito comes up for a vote, either. The numbers are
what they are. The real question comes when we find out if the Dems will
fillibuster, and, if they do, whether Frist will try the "Nuclear Option".
If they do, and change the Senate Rules to turn it into a "majority rules -
minority has no voice" organization, it's something they'll have to live

2) You MIGHT be able to make a case for calling the NSA agent who leaked
the story to the Times a "traitor", but the Times, by printing it, broke no
law and violated no security protocols. They're not bound by the same
security protocols as (for instance) members of the Administration who
leaked the identity of a covert CIA operative and her entire cover company.
Many might argue that the Times, who had the story BEFORE the 2004 election,
did the country a more aggregious disservice by acceding to the Bush
Administration's request and sitting on it until after Bush got reelected
(well, maybe) than they did by releasing it.
3) The terrorists have been dumping their phones after only a single use
since BEFORE 9/11/01! They watch "Law and Order", too, you know!

I remeber quite clearly who declared war (jihaad) on the west, then
attacked
the United States. But go ahead and keep on blaming America. It is helping
you lose your cause.
Really? Do you? Tell me, was it Afghanistan? Was it Iraq? Personally, I
had not problem with the Afghanistan invasion. Al Qaeda had admitted to
being behind the 9/11 attack, and the Taliban in Afghanistan was harboring
al Qaeda. Go get 'em, George! But Iraq? With no clear justification for
an invasion of Iraq, why divert most of our resources to an attack of that
godforsaken country, which had harmed us in no way, except to occasionally
call us nasty names? And to all but abandon the search for Osama bin Laden
in Afghanistan, because it was "hard work", and Georgie had more "hard work"
he wanted our troops to do in Iraq?
Now, three years later, we've lost almost as many brave servicemen and women
in Iraq as we lost in that 9/11 attack (an attack planned and carried out by
less than two dozen people). And Iraqi dead have numbered in the tens . . .
possibly hundreds . . . of thousands, many of them innocent women and
children. And for what? To replace the dictator we helped put in power a
few decades ago with a new dictator, who we'll feel compelled to replace
again when he turns against us too? Or perhaps to allow the same sort of
Islamic fundamentalist government we fear so much in Iran to take hold in
Iraq?
The economy is fucking great! Best in the G7 and best in the rest of the
world. To bad you're not a part of it. But that is your own fault.
"Fucking great"? Our National Debt is at an all time high, and the
percentage of every tax dollar that has to go overseas (mostly to China and
Saudi Arabia) just to pay the interest on that debt is increasing rapidly.
Families living below the poverty level is at a record high. Real (adjusted
for inflation) per capita income is down. Unemployment is down, but only
slightly and only because of a recent sharp increase in the number of
low-paying service jobs. The number of high-paying (especially high-tech
professional) jobs is actually down. I suppose the economy is "fucking
great" if you're a member of the idle rich (the true constituency of the
Republican Party) living off the dividends of massive (probably inherited)
stock holdings in corporations that have closed down their U.S. plants and
moved most of their operations to (tax sheltered) overseas facilities where
workers are delighted to have jobs that pay less than $1 an hour. And the
economy's probably pretty "fucking great" if your portfolio is heavy with
Halliburton and its subsidiaries, who're showing record profits due to the
disgraceful war profiteering this administration has handed them on a silver
platter. But if you're a worker whose $20/hr job was outsourced overseas to
some guy named "Punjab" or "Wong", who'll do it for $1/hour, and you're
employed again, but only at $6/hour at MacDonald's, the economy isn't so
"fucking great". It's not too "fucking great" if, like me, you're the owner
of a small business who's trying to compete with these huge corporations
who're getting their labor overseas for next to nothing.
In some areas our economy appears to be the "best in the G7 and best in the
rest of the world", but much of it is smoke and mirrors. Eventually, the
credit card bills (payments on the National Debt) come due. But you're not
concerned about the long term. I guess you don't have children or

Sociopathy.
Individuals with this disorder have little regard for the
feeling and welfare of others. As a clinical diagnosis it is usually
limited to those over age 18. It can be diagnosed in younger people
if the they commit isolated antisocial acts and do not show signs of
another mental disorder.
Antisocial Personality Disorder is chronic, beginning in adolescence
and continuing throughout adulthood. There are ten general
symptoms:
not learning from experience
no sense of responsibility
inability to form meaningful relationships
inability to control impulses
lack of moral sense
chronically antisocial behavior
no change in behavior after punishment
emotional immaturity
lack of guilt
self-centeredness
People with this disorder may exhibit criminal behavior. They may
not work. If they do work, they are frequently absent or may quit
suddenly. They do not consider other people's wishes, welfare or
rights. They can be manipulative and may lie to gain personal
pleasure or profit. They may default on loans, fail to provide child
support, or fail to care for their dependents adequately. High risk
sexual behavior and substance abuse are common. Impulsiveness,
failure to plan ahead, aggressiveness, irritability, irresponsibility,
and a reckless disregard for their own safety and the safety of
others are traits of the antisocial personality.
Socioeconomic status, gender, and genetic factors play a role.
Males are more likely to be antisocial than females. Those from
lower socioeconomic groups are more susceptible. A family history
of the disorder puts one at higher risk.
There are many theories about the cause of Antisocial Personality
Disorder including experiencing neglectful parenting as a child, low
levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, and belief that
antisocial behavior is justified because of difficult circumstances.
Psychotherapy, group therapy, and family therapy are common
treatments. The effects of medical treatment are inconclusive.
Unfortunately, most people with Antisocial Personality Disorder
reject treatment. Therefore, recovery rates are low.

there's nothing old fashioned or republican about this bunch. republicans
used to be fiscally conservative. now they just borrow and spend.
this is usenet, new home to a breed of apologists and corporatists who seem
to want the constitution to be shredded in the name of providing choices to
americans.
they haven't yet realized that their support of neocons is going to cost
them - and the rest of us - dearly in the long run. when they do, it will
be too late.
a lack of foresight, perhaps.
their numbers - like the logic behind their hatred, diatribe, and vitriol -
are shrinking, however. but i won't let my guard down until after the mid-
term elections.

Families living below the poverty level is at a record high. Real (adjusted

We're not iporting foreigners to fill those jobs. We're exporting the jobs.
When was the last time you called "tech support" for help with your
computer? Did the "tech" speak English really well? Probably not. He
probably spoke with a distinctly Indian, Pakistani or Chinese accent. Do
you think he was sitting in an office in Dallas or L.A.? Probably not. He

I didn't say I worked for $20/hour. I don't, and neither do hardly any of
the people who work for me. The only one who does is a part-time
bookkeeper, at $18/hour. The rest are between $25 and $40. But there are
many people in this country who do . . . or at least DID, until they got
laid off when their employer shut down their plant to move the operations to
an area with a cheaper work force. And, for what it's worth, here in New
Mexico, as in many parts of the country, $20/hour is considered a pretty
good pay rate . . . about 75 cents/hour under what a single-earner family
needs to make it to the nation's real median household income of $43,318,
and there are very few single-earner families these days.

1TeRVn-jw@comcast.com:
So, after inflation, you've managed to maintain status quo.
Congratulations. I guess your employer hasn't chosen to move much of his
operations overseas . . . yet.
uhh, that's because his employer *can't* move his job overseas.
you see, jim here is a flaming hypocrite: he's a member of the association
of western pulp and paper workers local 644 (www.awppw.org).
but he votes for people who would rather see him making less than half of
what he makes now. or replaced by an illegal alien. or better yet, a
machine.
in some ways, he's voting for his own job, because deregulating the timber
industry has recreated jobs at the mills here in washington state.
but if he could sit in on contract negotiations between management and
labor, he would see the other side of the coin.
oh, wait. on second thought, no, he probably wouldn't.

Few illegals are going to be deported.
George and his base prefer the vast pool of chap labor.
But you voted for him. Twice.

Unfortunately, there was no viable alternative.

And yet more than fifty million American voters voted for somebody other
than your guy. Thus your guy lost to a clown. What does that say about how
your guy was perceived?

Bush won in 2004 for one simple reason. Most
Americans saw correctly that Kerry was dangerous
to the security of our great nation. Bush is no prize,
but there was no viable alternative. In 2000, Gore
was simply not presidential material ... as was shown
by his childish behavior after the election.
