Red state backlash hurts Chicks' tour |
The problem is red state radio stations refuse to air their music or
advertise their concerts.
Of course there are probably not a thousand hoople-heads in the south who
could afford to go to one of their concerts.
http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/06/09/dixie.chicks.reut/index.html
Country music trio the Dixie Chicks, still taking heat for criticizing U.S.
President George W. Bush, are weathering sluggish ticket sales in several
cities for their upcoming U.S. tour, industry watchers reported on Thursday.
While early ticket purchases for their first major tour in three years are
generally robust in Northeastern cities, initial sales have fallen short of
expectations in numerous markets, especially in the Midwest and South,
forcing some dates to be scrubbed.

The only reason it sold anywhere is that moron radio had their on air
idiots ordering their moron listeners to "screw Bush" by buying a ditsy
chicks cd. I'll bet 90% of the people buying their cd's have even listened
to them.

This is strange -- when they were touring in 2003, they filled concert
halls.
Even though there were certainly people who sold their tickets there
were plenty who
scooped them up.

You think they're not getting richer?
Look, touring is a long promotional exercise for some bands, a way to let
their fans hear the music live...for others.
It's not a money making venture, at least not for the bands.
At most, you're looking at merchandise money (which is important, I'll
admit) being lost. But if there is someone in a cancelled city who wants the
tour shirt, it's on the website, I would think.
And the album debuted at #1 in Billboard with sales of over 500k which means
it shipped "Gold." And the Chicks get writing credits and publishing.
That's where the money is.......

And now more than 2/3rds of the country agree with them.
That explains why no body wants tickets to their crappy act.
They're selling out venues, dude.
And canceling others.

And that has what to do with the topic?
My statement was that the conservatives mentioned make no prejudices
concerning who purchases their products whereas the Chicks feel that
they should predetermine who should be "allowed" to buy their product.
Their statements set a criteria for their "fans" to meet.
Who buys conservative books? I've seen them on all kinds of folks
shelves. Liberals buy them to get ***** and find ***** to
criticize, maybe even to give as a gag gift for all I know.
Conservatives buy them because they probably agree with the opinions
within for the most part. Even those on USENET have stated they would
buy a Coulter book or a Hannity book because they think it would be a
good "read". They aren't buying them because they feel the need to
"support" the authors "cause". All in between most likely do so out of
curiosity or they might simply like the cover.
So now that that's officially answered for you, your point is?
Apparently you feel the need to make an apples and oranges argument.
What has who buys "conservative" and who buys "liberal" have to do
with the Chicks having a pissy attitude towards people that happen to
like other music as well as theirs?
What has it to do with the Chicks saying they don't want a certain
segment of the population to listen to them?

Your comment? Yes. Since you're evidently a
Babylon 5 fan, let me put things in terms that
even you might understand: Bush is sort of like
President William Clark, the Republicans and
their right-wing supporters sort of halfway between
the Shadows and the Nightwatch; while the
Democrats and their supporters sort of like the
Minbari.
People who normally want little to do with
Republicans or the Democrats have been forced
to become sort of like reluctant Vorlons and
Rangers because of the over-the-top destructive
excesses of the Shadows -- whoops, I mean
Republicans. The Dixie Chicks are sort of like
the Abbai and hence deserving of support in the
fight against Clark and his people -- whoops
again, I mean Bush and his people.

They never left, and they have been right all along.
And now more than 2/3rds of the country agree with them.
That explains why no body wants tickets to their crappy act.
They're selling out venues, dude.
And canceling others.
Their country and western goat roper ***** is only selling in the dim
North
East. Now figure that out, all those Mass. liberals
sucking up to a bunch of pointy booted funny talkin donkey wranglers.
The Truly western regions are avoiding these bimbettes like the plague.
Concerts canceled in many cities.
The thought of the red nosed Kennedy's having to suck up to a gaggle of
western hicks makes my day.

Folks buying music that they hate because they want 3 millionaires to
get even richer simply because they hate the president.
Seems pretty stupid yes?
Your comment? Yes. Since you're evidently a
Babylon 5 fan, let me put things in terms that
even you might understand: Bush is sort of like
President William Clark, the Republicans and
their right-wing supporters sort of halfway between
the Shadows and the Nightwatch; while the
Democrats and their supporters sort of like the
Minbari.
People who normally want little to do with
Republicans or the Democrats have been forced
to become sort of like reluctant Vorlons and
Rangers because of the over-the-top destructive
excesses of the Shadows -- whoops, I mean
Republicans. The Dixie Chicks are sort of like
the Abbai and hence deserving of support in the
fight against Clark and his people -- whoops
again, I mean Bush and his people.

As I thought.
Liberals do live in an alternative reality.
