Reno Couple Refuse Oath, Denied Tickets to See Chickenhawk Cheney |
James Steiner
Not everyone, who wanted to hear the Vice President speak, was able to.
The Republican party turned away a Washoe Valley couple...because they didn't
support the Bush/Cheney ticket.
Wendall Newman, and his wife, wanted to attend the Republican rally.
But, they were denied tickets.
Republican party officials say they've been told by the FBI and the Secret
Service...to screen people for tickets.
In this case, a staffer or a volunteer...thought there may be a security issue.
Newman says if taxpayers are being asked to foot the bill for security, and he
and his wife are taxpayers...then what happened was wrong.
Republican officials say the extra security costs have been for "all" the
recent high profile political events...not just the Vice President's visit.
Republican leaders say they did pass out tickets to "other" democrats, green
party supporters, and independents...to show they weren't being selective.

Last week I posted a story out of Reno about two undecided voters who
had been to see Edwards speak and then wanted to hear cheney speak.
At the cheney show, someone recognized the two as having been to see
Edwards, so they were denied entry even though they had their tickets.

i forwarded that story to everyone i know, thanks!
this whole thing stinks. bush and cheney know that if their
rallies were open to the general public there would be people in attendance
who would ask some tough questions..... and they would be caught on camera
with no answers. can't have the american people seeing that..... so they
weed out anyone who won't sign their oath. it's sickening.
