Gaping security gaps found along U.S.-Canada border
WASHINGTON (AP) --
A smuggler could easily carry radioactive material or other contraband
across the northern border into the United States, government
investigators have found.
The Government Accountability Office sent out investigators to test
how easily they could transfer large red duffel bags at unguarded and
unmonitored spots along the more than 5,000 miles of U.S.-Canadian
border.
The GAO, the investigative arm of Congress, described in a 13-page
report to be delivered to Congress on Thursday how easily
investigators were able to penetrate the border at several spots.
A copy of the report was obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.

Between the security gaps at national borders and at ports-of-entry,
the U.S. is vastly more vulnerable than your Nincompoop-In-Chief and
his cabal would ever publicly admit.
But along with these weaknesses, one can also ask whether the nation's
crucial IT systems that run our infrastructure are not even more
vulnerable to hacking, disablement, and shutdown.
The recent Chinese computer attacks on Pentagon systems tell me that
far more damage is possible in this arena than at any single border
crossing or port.
And of course Bushie conveniently ignores mentioning the inconvenient
fact that on January 11, 2007, the Chinese successfully shot-down one
their own disabled space satellites, just to see if they could.
