Bob Allen resigns in wake of conviction

State Rep. Bob Allen submitted a letter of resignation today
in the wake of his conviction earlier this week in a solicitation case.
Allen will not go to jail for his second-degree misdemeanor conviction
on a charge of solicitation for prostitution. The Merritt Island Republican
was sentenced Thursday to six months supervised probation and
ordered to pay a $250 fine after a jury found him guilty of soliciting sex
in a park bathroom from an undercover officer.
