GOP hopefuls absent from Bush rally

PENSACOLA --
Florida voters head to the polls today to pick a new governor and at
least two new members of the Cabinet, as well as to help decide
whether President Bush will face an unfriendly Congress for his final
two years in office.
To support his party's candidates in Florida, Bush wrapped up a
10-state campaign tour Monday in Pensacola.
But the state's top Republican candidates were conspicuously absent
from the presidential rally, which drew about 7,500 people.
The only statewide candidate to attend the event featuring the
president and his brother Gov. Jeb Bush was U.S. Rep. Katherine
Harris.
But Harris, who trails far behind in the polls in her bid to unseat
Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, did not appear on stage with them.
