Polls Show Kilgore's TV Attack Ads Backfiring
By Nicholas F. Benton
The controversial TV ad paid for by the campaign of Virginia GOP
candidate Jerry Kilgore claiming his opponent, Democrat Tim Kaine,
"says Adolf Hitler doesn’t qualify for the death penalty," has been
denounced by some of Virginia’s largest newspapers, including the
Roanoke Times, the Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk and the Daily Press of
Newport News.
Even the Washington Post referred to the ad as "a smear," and the
impact of the ads has appeared to backfire, according to new poll
numbers.
