Repug sez abortions have caused a shortage of cheap labor. |
State Sen. Nancy Schaefer of Georgia recently let slip the real reason
why conservatives are opposed to the practice.
At a local community meeting, she told members of the public that
there are so many illegal immigrants in America because 50 million
abortions have been performed in this country.
Huh?
Follow her logic:
she continued, saying that all those abortions have caused a shortage
of cheap labor.
"We could have used those people," she said.

Get it?
Abortions = shortage of cheap American labor = increase in illegal
immigration.
So there you have it.
The real reason why Republicans want to ban abortion is that there
just aren't enough poor people in America to do the jobs that
foreigners are willing to do for fifty cents an hour; overturning Roe
vs. Wade would mean a dramatic increase in cheap labor for the rich to
exploit.
Thanks for explaining that to us Nancy.

That seems to be true.
Despite yesterday's assertion by Treasury Secretary Snow stating that
the average US wage has 'risen' (he was using statistical averaging
that included CEO salaries as well as the typical working stiff's)..
the fact of the matter is that the *median US income* has fallen by 8%
- in real terms - since 2000.
Somebody is avidly destroying the US 'middle-class'.

It would be nice if people could see beyond the ends of their noses
sometimes..
At a time when our technology is producing *quantum computers* do they
mean to say that technology is somehow unable to automate the pulling
up of turnips on farms?
Instead we are continually being subjected to the never ending burden
of millions of illegals who make matters worse for US workers and
taxpayers (too say nothing of the environment). - even while being
tagentially subjected to the over-politicized personal religious belief
systems such as your above quote indicates.
It would be nice at some point that people come to understand that
short term greed should not supercede the public good. And it would be
nice to see an administration that not only enforced US law, but makes
policy to avoid future problems for its legitimate general public.

Its not that techology cannot do it.
Its that throw away people can do it cheaper.
For example, security is one of hte booming job markets today --- ITT Tech
is even giveing degrees in "security guarding".
Smoke, fire, and motion alarms can do the same work. But they cost a lot to
install and maintain. A mall near here is using a $90000 DHS grant for
hardware and another $50,000 in installation to put 5 cameras in to monitor
its parking lots. $8/hr no benefits labor can do it for a whole lot less.

Yep, that's what I meant when I said that it would be nice if people
could see beyond the ends of their (short term) noses.
A simple enforcement of US immigration law make the issue a moot
point.. and would:
1) Force US companies to purchase US based services to automate its
parking lot monitoring - therebye producing US jobs for US citizens.
2) Keep illegals where they belong - out of the country - and out of
taxpayers pocketbooks.
3) Keep US governments legal and US politicians and lawmakers less
hypocritical in their efforts in political whoring.
PS: I could provide 5 cameras, the cabling, the monitor, and the motion
detection software - all installed - for $10,000. That would be 6k less
a year than the illegal's cost - even after year one. The subsequent
years' savings would be free 'gravy'.
