Right-wing plagiarist resigns from the Washington Post |

Washington Post's Republican blogger resigns after 72 hours
By Evan Derkacz
March 24, 2006.
Warning: appeasing the right wing is bad for your health.
Score one for the lefty blogs.
As Jan points out,
http://alternet.org/blogs/echochamber/#33993Washingtonpost.com's new
ex-blogger Ben Domenech resigned today.
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/washpostblog/2006/03/ben_domenech_resigns.html
He's reportedly looking for a wife and kids with whom he wishes to
spend more time.
The resignation comes as the Post was looking into allegations, dug up
by the lefty blogosphere, that Domenech was a plagiarist.

Some are questioning whether Domenech in fact wrote his own
resignation letter.
But others are asking more serious questions of the media that hired
him and others who make no pretenses whatever to having journalistic
integrity.
Matt Stoller writes: http://www.mydd.com/story/2006/3/24/13541/4032
"Journalists and editors should no longer appease the right-wing.
It doesn't matter if it's hiring Ben Domenech or listening as Bush
tries to convince you of the link between 9/11 and Al Qaeda or that
Iraq is now named 'flowers and candy land', journalists should no
longer listen to the right-wing.
Ken Mehlman's statements about Russ Feingold wanting to surrender to
terrorists are no longer part of your story.
Period.
The idea that the media is hiding the good news in Iraq is not a
story.
Period.
Right wing blogger, Gabe, sees a conspiracy to set Domenech up as a
patsy to make the left look good:
"Are we really expected to believe that no one at WAPO did any kind of
vetting of him prior to offering him the job? Given the speed of Team
Lefty's assault on him, and the large amount of obviously plagarized
work, this has all the trappings of a setup." http://www.mydd.com/
