Right-wingers whine about gettin' too much bad news. |

Administration Reports Undermine Right Wing’s Media Bashing on Iraq
The latest White House talking point on Iraq is that the media is
systematically ignoring the "good news" about the war.
http://thinkprogress.org/2006/03/22/townhall-world/
Secretary Rumsfeld has led the charge, and right-wing bloggers
http://www.exposetheleft.com/2006/03/22/michael-yon/ are serving as an
echo chamber. http://powerlineblog.com/archives/013352.php
Last night, Newsweek’s Richard Wolffe explained what’s going on:
At a time when--conservatives in general are feeling very
disillusioned about the war and about their president, you’ve got to
find something to rally around.
Beating up the media is one of those.
So far, the public isn’t buying the spin:
60 percent of Americans believe that the media are reporting events in
Iraq either accurately or better than they really are.
http://thinkprogress.org/2006/03/14/media-coverage-of-iraq/
And they’re right.
Eyewitness accounts both by the Bush administration and by journalists
on the ground back up the media’s perspective of the chaos and refute
the right-wing’s claims of journalistic neglect:

State Department Human Rights Practices report on Iraq, 3/8/06:
http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/hrrpt/2005/61689.htm
[A] climate of extreme violence in which people were killed for
political and other reasons. ... Bombings, executions, killings,
kidnappings, shootings, and intimidation were a daily occurrence
throughout all regions and sectors of society. An illustrative list of
these attacks, even a highly selective one, could scarcely reflect the
broad dimension of the violence.
U.S. Agency for International Development report on Iraq, 1/2/06:
http://pdf.usaid.gov/pdf_docs/PNADE992.pdf
Former regime elements, foreign fighters and Islamic extremists
continue to conduct terrorist attacks with devastating effect upon
Iraqi civilians.
NBC reporter, Richard Engel, "the only television news correspondent
to cover the entire war in Iraq for an American television network
from Baghdad," http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5424809/
3/22/06: http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/03/22.html#a7615
I think the security problem is the overall story and most Iraqi’s I
speak to say -- actually most reporters get it wrong -- it’s the
situation on the ground is actually worse than the images we project
on television.

Spin it anyway you want Harry. Your fucking goose is cooked. Ask our
boys in battle, what they thing about assholes like you and your elite
media. They think that you are all assholes and have an agenda for the
left. You remember, like Clinton years before we had the "new Media"?
You cannot get away with it any longer.

Americans have had enough of Osama bin Bush and Fox Taliban News.
If honesty in the Press is what you want then you will have to open your
mind but I don't think you can.
You are insecure and want your media sugar-coated.

Who fucking cares what the "boys in battle" care about?
Listen to the brain dead propaganda fed right wing extremist idiot tell us
his fantasies about "new Media", when all he listens to is contrived bull
***** produced by Fox News and money losing, subsidized right wing websites
and news papers.
What's your education, Boy? Did you achieve your GED?
Accusing others of what you are yourself is the oldest trick in the book.
Elite media, my *****. Just because the media of the world doesn't agree with
Fox News, suddenly it's "The Elite!". Are they the same "Elite" that
control the government that you so faithfully defend? Are they the same
"Elite" that controls the military industrial complex that "our boys" are
dying for? Are they the same "Elite" who's out of control borrow-and-spend
madness is bankrupting America?
You're just another unintelligent, drooling, insecure right wing retard who
hasn't the brains to think on his own.
Right Wing American Chickenhawks want to be fed a steady stream of right wing
propaganda so they can use it to defend their hero Bush. They did a hole so
deep that they're unable to get out of it and then sanctimoniously blame the
left for pointing out that they're trapped.
If idiots like YankFan® had their way, Fox's steady diet of pro-government
propaganda would be all anyone would listen to. They don't believe in
freedom of speech, they don't believe in freedom at all.

"boys in battle"? The best and the brightest?
But never mind all that. The point is that Halberstam
called these foreign service officers, CIA analysts
and spies and other government intelligence wonks the
"best and the brightest" because, mostly, they were,
coming as they did from the ranks of brilliant,
degree-laden academic stars at America's finest
universities and think-tanks.
But try to apply that best-and-brightest appellation
to the thugs the U.S. government now has trying to
subdue the Iraqis, and it's hardly possible not to
see the grinning, mongoloid snout of Lynndie
England as she hilariously mocks a chained man's
genitals. Or to recall Army Lt. Jack Saville, who led
the fun-loving soldiers who got their kicks pushing
Iraqis off a bridge and into the Tigris river to
drown. Or the numerous other U.S. liberators who
have repeatedly liberated cars full of Iraqi families
of their lives because . . . well, better safe than
sorry.
How about an army of
small-town, unschooled American punks whose
alternative to joining up was eternal unemployment,
perpetual trailer-park residency and, possibly,
prison?
Most of these "best and brightest" volunteered, in
peacetime and with the prospect of actual war
remote, not to defend their country from a
nonexistent enemy, but so they could "larn a trade"
or get three squares a day, or simply so they could
get the hell out of their mobile home parks for a
while. Homicidal dropouts and losers, maybe.
But the best and the brightest? God help America
if they are.
