Object: Ron Paul: "The only Republican who can beat Hillary"
from The Conservative Voice, Jan. 1/08:
<quote>
Public opinion service Rasmussen Reports recently released data from
its October 12-14 polling that indicates that Republican presidential
candidate Ron Paul leads his GOP opponents [in one-to-one matchups]
against Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton among likely
voters ages 30-49. He is the leading White House contender for the key
demographic, polling higher than Clinton among baby boomers.
Congressman Paul polls in at 47%, compared with Clinton's 44%, among
likely voters aged 40-49.
The 30-49 demographic has been a key indicator in recent elections,
and one in which Republicans tend to fare well in hotly-contested
elections. In 2004, exit polls reveal that George Bush beat John Kerry
53% to 46% among 30-44 year olds, and all accounts indicate that this
will be the most instrumental demographic in the 2008 presidential
election as well.
"Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate who can beat Hillary
Clinton," claims political strategist Kent Snyder. </q>

Not that I want Hilliary but nobody but a Jesus freak is going to vote
for JP. He has some pretty weird ideas. You posted this on the
Canadian politics board, are you expecting some votes from them?

JP? Jane Pauley?

He has some pretty weird ideas.

Yeah, he supports the Constitution.... Can you imagine what would happen to
the US if the president actually followed the law? Heck, people would be
running around like chickens with their heads cut off.... panic would break
out.
Now we all have warrentless wiretaps.... no more habeas corpus....or due
process. Anyone who opposes the war can be labelled a terrorist and put on a
no-fly list.... That's what the people want.... communist style security.
Heck, if it saves only one life it will be worth it!
Can you imagine not trusting the government? Weird huh?

Just standard libertarian ideas (plus Texas Baptist attitudes to
illegal immigration and evolution, admittedly).

I'm posting all of my Ron Paul stories here, because I subscribe to
and read can.politics (though I don't write much except at federal
election time), and I want to let my friends here know what I'm up to.
But let me try to add some CanCon, to keep things more on-topic.

According to today's /National Post/ and

Perhaps; or he's fallen under the spell of the evil L. Ron Paul
himself. (As I seem to have 8)

The only

LOL!

### I doubt Paul will retain congress his seat next fall

You're kidding, right? For a Republican to lose there would be like
having a Liberal lose in Outremont ... um, never mind
.
