SHARON AND ARAFAT: OPPOSITE SIDES OF THE SAME ONE COIN
Sharon and Arafat:
Like opposite sides of the same one coin,
stuck together, against their wills.
Like the same one actor in two different costumes,
playing two different roles in the same one tragic movie.
Like the (American Appalachian) Hatfields vs. McCoys blood feud,
which went on for decades, long after both sides had forgotten why.
Like Cain and Able in the Bible,
which may be the real reason for them both.
Both have extremists they cannot control.
Both have many sins in their past.
which they do not even recognize as sins.
Both are leaders of battle-crazed, irrational peoples,
with blood-lust passions burning unrestrained.
Both are harming their supporters terribly
Sharon is dragging the USA down into the mud with him.
Arafat is dragging the Muslim world deeper into hatred and sin.
Both are oblivious to the problems (themselves) and see no need
to change themselves.
If I were not a Christian, I would say,
"To Hell with both of them. And good riddance."
But since I am a Christian, I will pray for them, and I
invite all of you to join me in the prayer:
O Lord of all, the One God Who created all things,
And by Whose grace all things exist which do exist.
We pray that You wil enter into the hearts of Ariel
Sharon and Yasser Arafat and soften their hearts toward
one another and toward all people, even their enemies.
We pray that You will open their eyes and let them clearly
see the terrible error of their ways.
We pray that You will guide them and protect them both,
leading them down clear paths to peace and not to war.
We pray also for their tragic peoples, blinded by hatred.
Please open their eyes, soften their hearts,
guide their steps upon Your chosen path.
(In Jesus' name I pray. You don't need to invoke
the name of Jesus if you do not believe in Him.)
Amen.

Ah... there is one difference between the two: one is a Noble prize
winner, the other one is not.

I have always felt that Sharon and Arafat are the Menendez brothers of
Middle East politics. However, there is a difference between the two....
Sharon is constrained to a certain degree by the people he claims to serve.
Arafat is not.
There is no question that the IDF perpetrates crimes against Palestinians.
There is no question that the Israelis are justified in their anxiety.
There is no question that the Palestinians have legitimate grievances.
There is no question that the terrorists are indiscriminate predators.
The terrorists are not freedom fighters. The recent bombing proves they
will target Arabs and Israelis, Muslims and Jews. They need to be
distinguished from the Palestinians caught in the middle. Then, they need
to be eradicated.
