This page states that church goers are more likely to support the GOP
and free thinkers are more likely to support the Democrats.
It partly explains the imperviousness of GOP supporters to reasoned
argument. They go by faith not "appearances". What you feel in your
gut in more reliable than your eyes in their view.
This explains why there are so many GOP supporters for whom the GOP
policies are detrimental. It does not have to make sense to them. It
is a matter of emotion.
This implies that the way to disrupt this cosy mindlessness is through
emotion, not logic.
An animatronic Jesus has to scare the living daylights out of them for
voting GOP. After all Bush does act very often as if he though he
were the anti Christ trying to bring some of the nastier Revelation
prophesies to fulfillment.
