On Wednesday, James Thurber of the Center for Congressional and
Presidential Studies called Frist's actions "quite unusual."
"The norm of the institution is that during even a heated campaign,
people leave the chamber to attack opponents of their party," Thurber
said.
"I think this shows a certain amount of desperation by the White House
to have the majority leader use the Senate floor as a forum to attack
people who are questioning the credibility of the administration ...
and also the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party," Thurber
said.
Bush aides recently began coordinating "message" with Frist's office
as they seek to defend the White House and pound Kerry, a Republican
aide said.

Frist Accused of Using Senate as Convention Hall
By Thomas Ferraro
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -
U.S. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has become increasingly
aggressive in recent days in defending the White House on his
chamber's floor, drawing Democratic complaints he is turning it into a
political convention hall.
In fact, Sen. Byron Dorgan, a North Dakota Democrat, charged that a
speech by Frist on Tuesday night lacked only "the balloons, the
buttons and the brass band."

Ya can really sense right wing desperation. Gotta feel sorry for 'em.
