A MESSAGE FROM MICHAEL CLOUD
Dear Friends,
Four weeks ago, I wrote you an open letter telling you about the
progress and plans of the Committee for Small Government.
Three weeks ago, Michael Dukakis and the Boston Globe gave telling
evidence that we are making progress.
Why did Michael Dukakis write a September 8th Boston Globe Op-Ed
slamming our 2002 Ballot Initiative to End the Income Tax in
Massachusetts?
Why is Michael Dukakis stonewalling Carla Howell's request to present the
case for ending the Income Tax to his political science students?
Why did the Boston Globe Editorial Department reject Carla Howell's
response to Dukakis' Globe Op-Ed?
Fear.
They fear what all tyrants and censors fear: free and open
discussions.
They fear the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
The truth will set us free.
The facts are friendly to freedom.
With free and open discussions, Americans would embrace individual
liberty, personal responsibility, and small government.
We would joyously dismantle Big Government like the Berlin Wall.
Starting in Massachusetts.
PLANS
The 2004 Presidential Campaign has already begun.
The Presidential Election Year is a time when Americans are receptive to
political discussions.
A time when America is a fertile field for the seeds of new political
possibilities.
Are we prepared to take advantage of this rare opportunity?
Do we have the knowledge and skills to make the most of this?
Not yet.
Imagine 1,000 Libertarians with the tools and training and
temperament needed to do the job.
Imagine 1,000 powerfully persuasive Libertarians sharing the
possibility of liberty and small government with hundreds of
thousands of Americans in 2004.
Because that is what we can and must do. While conditions are ripe.
You know my years of work with Harry Browne and Carla Howell. My
"Persuasion Power Points" in the Liberator On-Line. My "Essence of
Political Persuasion" Training Tapes.
Here's what I can and will do to provide the tools and training for
1000 Persuasive Libertarian Communicators.
Here's what's in the pipeline, fast approaching:
1. "Secrets of Libertarian Persuasion", a book by Michael Cloud. In
just minutes you'll learn fast, easy, fun ways to win people over to
libertarianism. [November, 2003]
2. "Maximum Impact Libertarian Speaking" workshops by Michael Cloud. These
workshops give Libertarians the tools and training needed to touch,
inspire, and move audiences to liberty. These workshops will be available
in a very limited number of locations. [starting early November, 2003]
3. "Art of Libertarian Persuasion" Weekend Workshops by Michael
Cloud. Infectious Ideas. Political Cross-Dressing. The Complete
Freedom Store. Re-languaging conversations. Is asking the Answer?
Persuasion Judo. Stories, Fables, and Metaphors. Tools, training, and
tactics. [Early, 2004]
4. "Art of Libertarian Persuasion" Home Learning Program by Michael
Cloud. Audio, Video, and the complete manual [Early, 2004]
The book, workshops, and home learning program will give 1,000
Libertarians the tools and training to make them 5 or 10 or even 20
times as effective a Libertarian communicator as they are now.
In 2004, 1,000 Libertarian spokespersons and candidates will amplify and
multiply and leverage their persuasive powers. Their impact.
We are getting closer and closer.
PROGRESS
The last week in August, we asked you to help pay down our Committee for
Small Government debt.
In response to this request, 43 Libertarians donated $6,441.
If you are one of our donors, thank you.
In the last 28 days, we have paid our debt down to $72,359.
This debt burden is preventing us from printing "Secrets of
Libertarian Persuasion".
This knee-buckling debt is severely limiting our ability to book and go
forward with the "Maximum Impact Libertarian Speaking" and "Art of
Libertarian Persuasion" training workshops
Your contribution now can free us to publish the book and schedule
the workshops.
Except we just got smacked by...
MURPHY'S LAW
You know Murphy's Law.
"Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong." And its corollary: "At the
worst possible time."
Since 1999, we have created and maintained a computer network that
supports all of our databases, websites, and email newsletters.
It had to support all campaign activities and communication needs -
as well as 5 different government-required campaign reporting
formats.
In the last few weeks, different hardware and software components
have fizzled, fried, and failed. They must be replaced.
We have to buy a new PC and repair another. This requires us to
upgrade several software packages. Our bookkeeping software expires
in October which also needs to be upgraded. We need to purchase
software for publishing and for website development. Plus we need a
new CD burner.
How serious is this?
Our old hardware and software is flickering and shutting down. We had to
baby sit the last 2 issues of "Small Government News" to just barely get
them out.
If we don't replace our email software, we can't send out "Small
Government News."
We desperately need $1,700 to immediately replace these components
and software.
We need another $7,500 to ease the debt burden - and let me get the
tools and training in the hands of 1,000 Libertarians for 2004.
We've got to raise $9,200 in the next 7 days. The clock's running
out.
