Teen gets jail, probation for fatal crash
Stansfield was at wheel when four died in June 2004

Sheriff's deputies handcuffed Stansfield, 17, and took him to jail
Friday after an emotional hearing where he pleaded guilty to two
counts of criminally negligent homicide stemming from the crash.
Stansfield had his driver's license only 10 days and had never driven
with passengers until that foggy, rainy night last year, when his
three friends piled into a Lexus.
As he sped down Inspiration Drive east of Parker, his car crossed the
center line and smashed into an oncoming Chrysler driven by Marvin
Gilchrist, 77.
Three investigators have reconstructed the accident and estimated the
speed variously at 70, 80 or 90 mph.
(snip)
About 75 of his fellow students at the tiny school gathered outside
the court Friday to protest what family and friends called too stiff
of a punishment.
"We love you, Todd," a voice in the crowd called out as Stansfield
entered the courthouse before the hearing.
Conditions of Todd Stansfield's 12 years of probation:
• 90 days in jail, beginning with 45 consecutive days followed by 45
days served on consecutive weekends up to his 18th birthday.
• 1,200 hours community service over seven years, to include at least
three high school presentations about the dangers of speeding and
about assisting injured car crash victims.
• Cannot attend high school graduation ceremonies.
• Must view mangled cars from the 2004 wreck in person.
• Restrictions until age 21: no driving; no riding in a car with a
driver under age 21; no alcohol; curfew from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.; no
school events; no athletic events; must stay two blocks away from
Douglas County public schools; cannot leave metro area; no social
events unless a parent is present a

Yeah Ted Kennedy did what any red blooded and privileged American boy would
do in that situation. Run home and tell daddy. Opps, he forgot the girl.
