They are not fly specks!
Have you ever been to any of these places??
I have! Islip is hardly a 'small town'!
There is Islip, then it is surounded by Central Islip, East Islip, and
West Islip. All are unincorporated and located in Suffolk County on Long
Island.
Central Islip - 33,000
Islip - 21,000
West Islip - 29,000
There are a half-dozen cities near-by with populations of over 50,000.
Suffolk County has a population of over 1,500,000. The county covers the
Eastern end of Long Island, and is 200 square miles in area. That is
over 1,500 people per square mile. The Hamptons are also located in
Suffolk County.
http://psychcentral.com/psypsych/Suffolk_County,_New_York
Geography
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of
6,146 km² (2,373 mi²). 2,363 km² (912 mi²) of it is land and 3,784 km²
(1,461 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 61.56% water.
The eastern end of the county splits into two peninsulas, known as the
North Fork and the South Fork. The county is surrounded by water on
three sides, including the Atlantic Ocean and the Long Island Sound. The
eastern end contains large bays.
Suffolk County occupies the easternmost portion of Long Island, in the
