No they won't. Export countries need MARKETS - markets both
big-population and affluent

Florida, as I recall, was hit by 3 major hurricanes last year, just
before an election. FEMA responded the next morning each and every
time. It seems people were distracted.

Well considering in our Federal system a diaster effecting 4 states
comes under FEMA and FEMA is Bush's agency.

But what we saw in New Orleans was not just Bush fault, it was the
whole ***** nations fault.

nation, our blindness to our own weaknesses, and our indifference to
each other has made a number of recent diasters possible, the
disgusting response to New Orleans is just the most recent in a line
including the GOP controlling Congress after engaging in a deeply
unpopular impeachment, the assumption of power by Bush, the invasion of
Iraq on the basis of utterly false information, the acceptance of
torture, the destruction of Iraq's society under our occupation, and
now this.

All Ameircans should be ashamed. What is coming up now is the biggest
test of our history, much bigger than 9-11. Because most of those
people left to die in New Orleans as authorities ran around in
confusion were black and poor it will be easy to much of middle Ameirca
to forget or blame them.

If in the coming months New Orleans is forgotten, or if a majority
things the response was good, or even if rage with FEMA fades, then
America will be finished as a superpower. The threat is not Al Qaeda
or Baathists in Iraq but ourselves, our own racism and inequality will
have destroyed our repuation around the world and perminently split the
very people necessary to fight wars: blacks, poor, hispanics.

We sure can't have an army with rich republicans sons.
