Section 3402(n) This sections says you can tell your employer to not
take income taxes from your paycheck

"Nothwithsatanding any other provision of this section, an employer
shall not be required to deduct and withhold any tax under this
chapter upon a payment of wages to an employee if there is in effect
with respect to such payment a withholding exemption certificate (in
such form and containing such other information as the Secretary may
prescribe) furnished to the employer by the employee verifying that
the employee--

(1) incurred no liability for income tax imposed under Subtitle A for
his preceding taxable year, and

(2) anticipates that he will incur no tax liability for income tax
imposed under subtitle A for his current taxable year..."

The Key: No one is made liable for income taxes in the internal
revenue Code, so you can honestly say that you have no liability, and
ask your employer to not take out taxes. If the IRS or your employer
or both say you can't go "exempt", show them the law.

All you have to do is look at the jobs on craigslist. There are
plenty of individuals and small companies willing to pay cash.

I don't know if he reported it as taxable income - but I do know my
late father's father, a skilled printer, moonlighted in minor
electrical and plumbing work. If you can't do something like what

there for services like that anyhow. It's limited because of the way
we segregate our land uses. And besides, the neighbors won't like it
if you start a business in your garage and it interferes with their
privacy. They will report you if they think you're getting away with
something. Then where are you?
