Teachers, schools sue Bush |
The other plaintiffs are nine school districts in Michigan, Vermont
and Bush's home state of Texas, plus 10 NEA chapters in those states
and Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania
and Utah.
The NEA is paying for the lawsuit.
Bush is facing battles on other fronts, too.
The Republican-led Utah Legislature voted Tuesday to put its
educational goals ahead of the federal law despite the possible loss
of $76 million.
Connecticut is planning its own lawsuit and other states are balking
over money.

Teachers, schools sue Bush over funds
Lawsuit says states shouldn't have to cover federal expenses of No
Child Left Behind.
By Ben Feller
Associated Press
WASHINGTON --
The nation's largest teachers union and school districts in three
states sued the Bush administration Wednesday over the No Child Left
Behind law, aiming to free schools from complying with any part not
paid for by the federal government.
The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for eastern Michigan, is the
first major challenge to President Bush's signature education policy.
The outcome would apply directly to the districts in the case, but it
could affect the way the law is enforced in schools across the
country.

Buying overpriced unnecessary revised textbooks on a regular basis,
whether schools want them or not, as the publishing industry has ties to
the state legislature--for one.

The California State Lottery (the so-called Idiot Tax) was supposed to
go toward public schools. I believe that after the first couple of
years it actually did.

I don't know if I should laugh or cry...You have the largest teaching
Union out there trying to sue a sitting President for actions he did
while President when the law of the land clearly says that this is
illegal to even attempt.
So in essence, you have a union of left wing numbnuts trying to
violate federal law by suing a sitting president when they cannot even
get this into a court as any judge would toss it out, not to mention
any attorney that even tries to take this case could lose his law
license for filing a fake federal case that is illegal to start with.
So tell me harry, exactly what are you and the Teachers Union trying
to prove with them trying to file an illegal action and you printing
it here?
makes me wonder exactly how our children are being taught if they
cannot understand this simple fact of law...especially since the
Democrats whined this fact into every mike-camera-paper-magazine and
radio show they could during the Clinton Impeachment hearings.

*****, spaz. You flip-flop as much as Bush.
Earlier you said it was the left who was saying it was illegal.
Unfortunately for you, it's perfectly legal. And you claim to be a lawyer.
This doesn't qualify as a new lie, since it's already on the list of
lies you've told.
61) Claimed Federal Law prohibits sitting presidents from being sued for
actions that happened while he was President. Clinton was sued by Paula
Jones while president and a federal judge ruled the case could continue
even while Clinton was in the WH.
