a 150 meters only ,not 150 kilometers , from Miami*s or Fla.*s shores =
and the chances are 70% out of a 100 % that you or anyone would have to =
deal with some sharks...
and that isn*t the only risk for cuban balseros...
1.- Kasstro*s sbirres might detain or arrest them before taking to the =
seas and jail them from two to five yrs.
2.- the sbirres have assassinated thousands of the fugitives in all =
these 45 yrs. of dictatorship.
3.- not even haitian wish to go to that gulag...
4.- the exiles are today close to 2 millions, but the first waves were=20
somewhat around 400,000 ..and those are the same people you and =
others catalogued as the burgeois,rich, middle classes etc.=20
To give an idea : 5,000 cubans MDs are in exile...

Does "shark infested seas" refer to the roughly 150 kilometers of
waters whcih Cubans must cross to reach Florida's shores or does
"shark infested seas" refer to the streets of Miami where the rich
relative handful of powerful counterrevolutionaries who left Cuba some
time ago (gusanos) run roughshod over the rest of the population,
including newly-arriving Cubans who emigate mostly for economic
reasons?!

Communist Cuba going for oil bonanza in the Gulf of Mexico

The world's largest deep-sea drilling rigs will park off Cuba.
Castro hopes to tap deep water fields in the Gulf of Mexico and access a major deposits of crude.
Multinational oil corporations are prepared to drill for this oil in water more than a mile deep.
They have invested billions of dollars in the venture.
"Deep-Water Cuba" will be the new oil exploration frontier.
The stakes are high for Castro because this oil would allow him to give a much needed boost to
the Cuban economy.
