Anti-Illegal-Immigrant Law OK'd in Texas

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas -- Voters in this Dallas suburb became the first
in the nation Saturday to prohibit landlords from renting to most
illegal immigrants.
The ban was approved by a vote of 68 percent to 32 percent in final,
unofficial returns.
The balloting marked the first public vote on a local government measure
to crack down on illegal immigration.
"It says especially to Congress that we're tired of the out-of-control
illegal immigration problem. That if Congress doesn't do something about
it, cities will," said Tim O'Hare, a City Council member who was the
ordinance's lead proponent.
The ordinance requires apartment managers to verify that renters are
U.S. citizens or legal immigrants before leasing to them, with some
exceptions.
Property managers or owners who break the rule face a misdemeanor charge
punishable by a fine of up to $500.
Council members approved the ordinance in November, then revised it in
January to include exemptions for minors, seniors and some families with
a mix of legal residents and illegal immigrants.
With Saturday's approval of the ban, opponents plan to fight it in
court, and will seek a restraining order to stop the city from enforcing it.

You fools, there are no more liberals or conservatives - your enemy
consists of those who have taken control of BOTH parties, who seek to
undermine the very sovereignty
of our nation by means of the immigration fiasco, "free" trade and the
eager willingness to fight wars to make the world safe for democracy.
These "CON" men are far worse than the tax and spend liberals - they
operate openly at the behest of corporations who would rather
increase their profits by means of the worst sort of labor
exploitation and yet who cry at the first sign of raised taxes as
their runious encouragment of outsourcing, h1b's and immigration
bankrupts both the middle class tax base and the infrastructure of
every major city in the land. You can spot them right away by the
constantly changing justifications and rationalizations of their
actions - for example, there have been over 4 or 5 explanations having
to do with why we are in Iraq with each successive explanation being
promptly tendered as the previous "explanation's" fallacies are
exposed - a sure sign that something is wrong.
In order to address these problems, shouting at non-existent and
powerless liberals and conservaties serves only to strengthen those
who exploit the political vacumn - you must
direct your energies to REAL reform and it is not pretty -> overthrow
the lobbyist system and kick them out of Washington, address the
crisis of the trade imbalances with foreign countries, cancel the H1b
visa program and start recruiting from the millions of young technical
people whoose chances at a career are being undermined by the H1b
worker, reform the school system which (according to the brilliant
expose by John Taylor Gatto - The Underground History of American
Education) is nothing more than
a giant social warehousing experiment to produce "law abiding" (i.e.
docile) unthinking drones and get the military to kick the habit of
giant World War ll and Cold war style contract thinking in an era
where a different kind of war is being waged.
Those of you who mislabel yourselves as liberals OR conservaties -
perhaps it is time to stand together and start defending what is left
of your country before that giant freeway from Texas to Canada is
built and you wake one morning to find yourselves living in the United
North American States, your currency is the pesollar,
and at $24 pesollars to the gallon, your rusting SUV can barely make
it to your job retraining center where you will be "retrained" in a
"new" field.
You think those GI's on the Normandy beaches started arguing amongst
themselves
as to who was liberal and who was conservative??
WAKE UP, focus on essentials and drop the irrelevancies - it was BOTH
liberals and conservatives that got us to this mess and now that both
of those groups have been ensnared by the tentacles of the new con
men, WE have to figure a way out.
