In acknowledgement of the 600th US and/or British soldier
killed during the annexation and colonization of Iraq, and
with all apologies due to Alfred Tennyson (and none to the
pair of cowardly bastards in Washington and London) I give
you the following.
Bob Dog
------------------------------------------------------------
The Charge of the Freedom Charade
1.
Half a myth, half a lie,
Half a world onward,
All in search for weapons
Goad the six hundred.
"Forward, the freedom charade!
"Search for the weapons!" Shrub said:
Into the valley of Ba'ath
Wrote off the six hundred.
2.
"Forward, the freedom charade!"
How many lies were purveyed?
Not though the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Blair's not to state fact, but deny,
Shrub's cowardice the reason why,
GIs sent to kill and die:
Into the valley of Basra
Wrote off the six hundred.
3.
Women to right of them,
Children to left of them,
Antiquities in front of them
Murdered and plundered
Stormed in and shot to hell,
Blindly they obey and shell,
Into the oil of Ba'ath,
Into the Unocal
Wrote off the six hundred.
4.
Search they scour'd the land bare,
WMDs vanish'd into thin air,
All save the oil fields there,
Charging an army, while
Iraqis starved and wonder'd:
Plunged in the Baghdad road
Right thro' the line they strode;
Tigris and Euphrates,
The reeled from Iraqi resistance
Shattered and sputtered.
Then they ran away, but not
Not the six hundred.
5.
Sunnis to right of them,
Shiites to left of them,
Kurds behind them
Murdered and plundered
Shrub and Blair, lies they tell,
While Tommy and GI fell,
Fought for Exxon and BP wells
Came for the oil of Ba'ath
Derricks from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.
6.
When is the corpse decayed?
O the wild charges they made!
All the world wondered.
Dishonor your soldiers they slayed,
Dishonor them while Shrub parades,
The gullible six hundred.
