The Gathering Storm
From Charlie Cook's forthcoming National Journal column:
"Time is running out for Republicans.
Unless something dramatic happens before Election Day, Democrats will
take control of the House.
And the chances that they’ll seize the Senate are rising toward 50-50.
"The electoral hurricane bearing down on the GOP looks likely to be a
Category 4 or 5, strong enough to destroy at least one of the party’s
majorities.
The political climate feels much as it did before previous elections
that produced sizable upheavals, such as in 1994, when Democrats lost
52 House seats, eight Senate seats, and control of both chambers."

Something dramatic??? Rumsfeld will resign and save the election for the
Bush Republicans. Sadly they won't be my Republicans. We will be right back
in the same spot for the 2008 elections. A do nothing Congressional
Republican leadership clinging to a and a failed president.

"Unless something dramatic happens before Election Day, Democrats will
take control of the House." AND WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT THE BUSH
CRIME FAMILY WILL ALLOW A LOSS OF THE HOUSE? THAT WAY LIES SUBPOENA
POWER, INVESIGATIONS, INDICTMENTS, CONVICTIONS AND ALSO IMPEACHMENT.
IF THEY SEE THAT THE HOUSE AND/OR THE SENATE WILL BE LOST, THERE WILL
BE SOME SORT OF COUP WHICH WILL BE AIMED AT INVALIDATING THE ELECTIONS.
THIS IS NO TIME FOR SUNSHINE PATRIOTS.

But --there is a small problem. The Bush crime family cannot allow the
House -- and certainly not both the House and the Senate -- to fall
into Democrat hands. That way lies the subpoena power, investigations,
indictments, prosecutions and worse, impeachment and all the woes that
impeachment implies. In my opinion, they would whomp up a national
emergency to justify postponement of the elections -- or if held,
postpone any transfer of power, and somehow hang onto power. Maybe I
am paronoid -- but I fully expect them to do whatever it takes to avoid
losing their power.
