Giuliani and the Kerik mess: chatter intensifies

around Bernard Kerik, his former close friend, former police
commissioner, former favorite nominee for U.S. homeland-security
secretary, and former business partner.
But as the feds reportedly move towards charging Kerik with bribery in
connection with many of the facts that led up to his previous state
misdemeanor plea, insiders say that the folks back at Giuliani
headqurters are in not too small a tizzy over whether the
self-anointed "lost son" might go to trial -- thus keeping the charges
in the spotlight, replete with an unpredictable range of sworn
testimony about what went on in the former mayor's administration and
business.
Usually impeccable sources speak of back-channel communications from
Rudy-ville urging Kerik to take a plea deal -- but doing that could
land the man some time behind bars.
This, of course, he does not want and may not feel he deserves.
The back rooms of rival campaigns also are strategizing over this, we
are told.
