The Houdini Season |
Maslow vs. the 21st Century
http://maslow-vs-the-21st-century.blogspot.com/
And the Rovian Consersatives are out. This effective but evil attempt
to distract the American people from actually thinking about the last
five years and the horrors and inequities it has brought is in full
swing. Unfortunately, with the MTV short-attention span of the
American people plus the dwindling but still potent minority of
loud-mouths glued to Fox TV, they may actually be able to pull off
their pre-election dog and pony show.
Like Houdini, their message is "look over here", when the real problems
are "over there".
For example, America ranks 66 out of a 100 score in quality healthcare.
That's a "D" in American schools. It is estimated that if we were to
improve our healthcare in all ways 150,000 lives and $100 billion could
be saved annually. (

But see, that's not as sexy and doesn't have the same fear factor as
towers crumbling in New York City. What are Republicans pushing
pre-election? Of course, the crumbling towers.
I willing to bet far fewer than 150,000 americans were killed from
terrorism last year.
Ignore the terrorists? No. Just keep your heads and put it in
perspective.
As our civil rights and moral authority crumble, fear will keep us from
thinking. Thinking would restore us to the country we once were. When
we are in fear, we react. But we think, we plan and build.
I love my Shell gas station owner whoever he is. He was brave enough
to put a sign up in front of his gas station that said, "Enjoy your
pre-election gas prices!" He hit the whole thing right on the head!
It's all a huge right-wing manipulation without regard for the real
needs of human beings.
Enjoy your pre-election scary stories. They will be coming hard and
fast from the right over the next few weeks.
Orwell was a genius. Pre-election required reading should be "1984"
and "Animal Farm". If you can finish "Animal Farm" without seeing Karl
Rove as one of the pigs (and I'm not just talking about physical
appearance here), you have drunk too much of the governments Kool-Aid
and actually finding your way home to the America that once was may be
impossible for you.
As the pigs said to keep the other animals in line, "Do you want the
farmer to come back?" Now replace "farmer" with "terrorists".
Pass this on.
