Note: The following is a letter from my wife Anita to my
mother Esther. It is a letter which, in a spirit of honesty and
integrity attempts to bring closure to existing life-long
divisions caused by religious conditionings between two women
within the same family but of different generations.
Anita's intent in writing the letter is to take care of
unfinished business while her energy permits. She has recently
come through a serious health crisis and is presently recovering
from her recent release from a fifteen-day hospitalization, much
of the stay was spent in the Intensive Care Unit.
I truly have been blessed to have Anita as my wife. She has
walked with me through life for these past 45 years and has
repeatedly been put to the test of loyalty and service to Truth.
Women of the world, take heed of the deeper message
contained in this letter. For in it, if you have the eyes to see
and ears to hear, lies the key to the liberation of the civilized
woman regardless of what culture they live in.

Hello Esther,
This is not an easy letter for me to write. Nor will it be
an easy letter for you to read.
It contains the truth as I see it, and I believe that this
truth needs to be said before you and I are dead.
Ray and I have been married for 45 years. I had my first
reservations about the Catholic Church before Ray and I were
married, when we were required to sign a paper saying that our
children would be brought up in the Catholic faith. I questioned
whether I had the right to sign such a promise for a child that
was yet to be born.
After David, our third child, was born the doctors advised me
not to have any more children due to my high blood pressure and a
heart condition. It was an easy decision for me to make. My
God-given intelligence told me that it would be better by far to
have three children with a mother who had borne them and who
loved them, than to have three children without that security. I
began to use birth control pills. I went to confession and told
the priest what I was doing. He told me to "go away and think it
over, and to come back when I saw it their way." I never went
back, and I have never regretted my decision.
Before Ray and I were married, I had already questioned the
truth of the teachings of the Baptist church I had attended for
years. I went with friends to many different churches to listen
to what they were preaching, teaching. I did not find truth in
any of them. I heard the same fairy tale, myth, about Jesus
Christ, over and over, with a twist now and then to make it the
exclusive property of that particular church. And they all
claimed to be the One True Church! What nonsense! But people
threw away their own God-given intelligence and chose to believe
the story about the "immaculate conception" and "virgin birth"
(nature doesn't work that way on this planet) and somehow felt
"holy" by doing so. Are you aware that the same stories of
"immaculate conception" and "virgin birth" are also attributed to
the birth of Buddha?
What I have come to see over these past 45 years is the
obvious flaws and exploitations by churches that can no longer be
covered up or excused. NO MAN can speak for the immensity of
that intelligence we call GOD. No man, pope, minister, pastor
can possibly know "what God wants." Over the centuries, the
churches have extracted every cent possible from their followers,
but have failed to provide relief to the needy, the poor, and
have left it to the congregations to provide relief to each
other. Why then do we support these bastions of exploitation?
Each Christmas, Easter, and during visits to other countries, the
Catholic Pope prays for peace. THAT'S ALL HE DOES! He prays for
peace. Surely we do not need an old man to appear once
or twice a year to pray for peace. Surely we can do as good a
job at that ourselves.
I have never observed the Catholic Church to do anything
material to bring about peace. It did nothing during Second
World War and it is doing nothing now. In times and places of
war around this planet, individual priests have done truely
heroic deeds to save the lives of people. But I have never
observed the Catholic Church as a whole to come anywhere near to
taking such actions.
Throughout these past 45 years, I have observed that you
have lived your whole life according to this fairy tale, this
myth put forth by the Catholic Church which has enabled the
church to control millions of people over thousands of years and
which has allowed it to grow obscenely wealthy by taking from its
followers what little they had to give.
This fairy tale, this myth propagated by the church, has
gained such a strong hold over you and the rest of the family
that you have turned your backs on Ray without so much as
questioning your own actions and judgements. You have turned
your back because Ray does not live and never will live in the
fairy tale land you inhabit. Yet not one of you -- mother,
brother, sister -- has had enough interest in a member of your
own family to enquire what has brought him to his place in this
world. Not one of you has shown any interest at all in what has
transpired with Ray over the past two years. How do you
justify this lack of interest by what you purport to be a
"loving, caring" family? I am truly curious.
Only now are victims of the church, of the pedophile
priests, of the drunken priests, coming forth to hold the church
accountable. For centuries the believers, the followers, of the
religion have made excuses for the despicable acts of the
priesthood. It has never taken a genius to see what has
transpired. It only takes opening one's eyes to the truth, the
what is.
During the 45 years of our marriage, we have experienced a
great deal more in life than anyone else in the family has
experienced or can imagine.
Ray dealt with life and death on a daily basis when he was
with the police department. He attempted to resuscitate a man
who collapsed on the golf course and bore the taste of the dead
man's vomit through his administrating mouth to mouth
resuscitation. He went into a smoke-filled burning house with
zero visibility and pulled a legless man from the burning
building. He was shot in the line of duty and he also shot a man
in the line of duty. His life was threatened many times. The
lives of our kids and my life were threatened by an outlaw
motorcycle gang Ray would not back down from. Over the years he
received considerable attention from the news media
for his exploits. He earned the respect of many in the police
and judicial communities.
Ray's experience and actions with the courts over the past
two years regarding his false arrest and imprisonment has gained
the respect of people all over this world. Our Web site is
visited daily by hundreds who are hungry for the latest news.
What Ray has done in his defense throughout the past two years
was done by using his own God-given intelligence. What he is
doing now is holding the court and justice department accountable
for their criminal acts.
Why does this not interest Ray's mother or his family?
Is the family so fearful that the family name will be
tarnished that they would rather pretend that Ray does not exist?
To acknowledge the truth about the church, about one's life,
about one's mistakes and pretenses takes courage. It appears
that the only person with courage in the Karczewski family is
Ray.
Esther, I have not written this letter to hurt you, but so
that after 45 years, you and I may finally speak to each other
honestly before we die.
