REPORTER, NOT ROVE, OUTED CIA OPERATIVE, SOURCES SAY
WASHINGTON -- In the latest credulity-stretching twist to the summer's
political drama in Washington, anonymous leakers say it was not Karl Rove,
the President's right-hand man, who divulged the identity of a CIA operative
in an effort to smear one of George W. Bush's critics.
Rather, it was a reporter (or perhaps two reporters) who told Mr. Rove, say
the widely quoted but unnamed sources.
"I heard that too," Mr. Rove is reported to have replied when syndicated
columnist Robert Novak telephoned him nearly a week before publishing the
fact that Valerie Plame worked for the Central Intelligence Agency.......

We seem to be at cross purposes. I have never called for the carpet bombing

WASHINGTON -- In the latest credulity-stretching twist to the summer's
political drama in Washington, anonymous leakers say it was not Karl Rove,
the President's right-hand man, who divulged the identity of a CIA operative
in an effort to smear one of George W. Bush's critics.
Is your reading comprehension that bad...? What part of "credulity-stretching
twist" do you not understand...?
Rather, it was a reporter (or perhaps two reporters) who told Mr. Rove, say
the widely quoted but unnamed sources.
"I heard that too," Mr. Rove is reported to have replied when syndicated
columnist Robert Novak telephoned him nearly a week before publishing the
fact that Valerie Plame worked for the Central Intelligence Agency.......
You forgot this part, *****-stain.
The whiff of cover-up hangs in Washington's humid air, and the scent of
political advantage has Democrats hoping for a kill and Republicans gathering to
protect one of Mr. Bush's closest and most important political advisers.
Mr. Wilson, whose wife's name is at the centre of the scandal, says Mr. Rove
should be fired.
He is guilty, Mr. Wilson said, of "outrageous abuse of power . . . certainly
worthy of frog-marching out of the White House."

If all you had to worry about was the media, you could be right, this could
very well blow over. However, we will see what the special prosecutor has to
say. While Rove may not be technically guilty of outing an agent under the
strict guidelines of the statue, there have been enough lies and
stonewalling to easily see indictments for perjury and obstruction of
justice to say the least. Judith Miller would not be sitting in the slammer
if the prosecutor wasn't on to something, and all the spin and Pug talking
points will be nothing more than background noise to him.

REPORTER, NOT ROVE, OUTED CIA OPERATIVE, SOURCES SAY
WASHINGTON -- In the latest credulity-stretching twist to the summer's
political drama in Washington, anonymous leakers say it was not Karl Rove,
the President's right-hand man, who divulged the identity of a CIA
operative in an effort to smear one of George W. Bush's critics.
Rather, it was a reporter (or perhaps two reporters) who told Mr. Rove,
say the widely quoted but unnamed sources.
"I heard that too," Mr. Rove is reported to have replied when syndicated
columnist Robert Novak telephoned him nearly a week before publishing the
fact that Valerie Plame worked for the Central Intelligence Agency.......

Needham, what do you think the best case scenario is for yourside? Judith
Miller sitting in a jail cell two years into the investigation makes it
highly unlikely that no indictments will be handed down. While both sides
have been spinning this thing to death, the prosecutor (with a reputation
for being tenacious) has been keeping his mouth shut and getting down to
business. It is also well past the point for Bush to cut his losses by
tossing a couple low level staffers out to the prosecutor and hope he goes
away. That generally works with the media but not the prosecutor (and Bush
didn't even do this). Realistically, it is going to look bad for Bush, the
only question remaining is how bad.

Blah, blah, blah. When nothing happens to Rove, you'll claim
the special proscecutor didn't do his job.

Not true. We'll claim he was blackmailed, threatened, or bought off, which is
probably in the works as I type.

What makes you so sure Rove is innocent? Is this kind of thing out of
character for him? That would be a good defense. How is Valerie Plame the bad
one in all this? Are you saying she masterminded a plot to destroy Bush?
