That's the only real criticism I would make of the media during Ford's
presidency.
If Ford were president today, we might have a cable access channel dedicated
to the in depth analysis of any trips or stumbles by Gerald Ford. A small
cottage industry in such analysis might spring up, maybe a college course on
breaking down each mis-step through video frame-by-frame and roundtable
discussion.
Then we might have a real understanding of why the tip of Ford's shoe
caught the edge of a step on a certain day, and what it meant for America
and the world. A real shame and I feel the press let us down in that
regard.
